This Pancake Day, grab the beloved breakfast at these 6 spots across India

An American-style stack or cloud-like Japanese pancakes—what would you pick?

Harper's Bazaar India

A tall stack of pillow-soft pancakes topped with fresh fruit, a knob of butter, and a generous pour of maple syrup—nothing screams ‘breakfast of champions’ more than this sweet treat. And there’s a day dedicated to this breakfast staple—among the Christian communities around the world, Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day is observed every year the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of the fasting period of Lent. Since pancakes signify all things indulgent, they are eaten as the last lavish meal before the 40 days of fasting begin.

But, like us, if you don’t need a reason to feast on pancakes, then go through our list of six places across India—in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru—which serve some of the best pancakes, EVER.

Mumbai

The Nutcracker—
for pure indulgence

Try: Belgian chocolate chip pancakes
The Nutcracker has multiple outlets in Mumbai and serves one of the best pancakes in the city. If you’re looking to dig into good ol’ buttermilk pancakes with all the trimmings—butter, maple syrup, and more—then the cafe should be on your list. So, the next time a pancake craving strikes, head there for a stack of delicious goodness—their Belgian chocolate chip pancakes are as indulgent as it can get.

Try: Almond and coconut oatmeal pancakes
If you want to enjoy your stack of pancakes but are looking to keep it on the healthier side, then Sequel is here to the rescue. They might have only one pancakes option on the extensive menu, but it’s worth ordering. The almond and coconut oatmeal pancakes are all about wholesomeness—think soft oatmeal and almond flour-based pancakes topped with vanilla-infused Kashmiri honey, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, fresh raspberries and a house-made berry and chia compote. Our mouth is watering already!

Delhi-NCR

Try: Pancakes with fresh fruits, whipped cream, and maple syrup
If soft, jiggly, Japanese-style pancakes are on your mind, then AMA Cafe in Majnu Ka Tila will satisfy your craving. The cafe, which is a favourite with college students because of its cosy ambience and heart-warming fare, doles out some of the best soufflé pancakes in the city. Try the plain butter and maple syrup version, or go all out with the option that comes with fresh fruits, whipped cream, and maple syrup on the side. But remember to reach early, they usually sell out before noon.

Try: Belgian chocolate stack
Elma's is a quaint bistro in Hauz Khas Village that serves hearty breakfast fare. We love their Belgian chocolate stack that comes topped with extra chocolate chips and butter, making it a decadent treat. Plus, they are happy to whip up gluten-free or keto-friendly options, too, in case you have dietary restrictions.

Bengaluru

154 Breakfast Club—for a trio of flavours

Try: 154 triple-play pancakes with banana-honey, chocolate, and berry
A popular cafe in Bengaluru with an inviting vibe, 154 Breakfast Club, as the name suggests, is known for its breakfast spread. Pancake lovers shouldn’t miss their triple-play pancakes where you get a mix of banana- honey, chocolate, and berry pancakes. If you’d like to stick to the classics, then you can’t go wrong with the Nutella pancakes.

Smoke House Deli—for classic buttermilk pancakes

Try: The Elvis with banana, bacon, and peanut butter
Smoke House Deli, which has outposts dotted throughout the country, is a go-to when it comes to comforting food, and their old-school pancakes are no different. Take your pick from the three variations: Classic, that comes with seasonal fresh fruit compote; Chocolate Overload that is topped with chocolate ganache and chocolate chips; and the savoury-sweet option The Elvis, which has banana, bacon and peanut butter.
