Burberry’s Diwali edit makes a case for rich hues and heritage checks

Burberry's latest edit brings together rich hues, signature patterns, and shimmering details for the festive season.

Harper's Bazaar India

Diwali dressing often calls for pieces that feel special enough for celebrations and versatile enough to wear beyond them. Burberry’s Diwali capsule takes this approach with a palette of vineyard red and chocolate brown, complemented by textured fabrics, metallic accents, and the British fashion house’s recognisable checks. The result is an edit that brings a festive finish to familiar wardrobe staples, with capes, scarves, bags, and menswear designed to move from daytime gatherings to evening plans.

With Diwali being a time for dressing up, meeting friends and family, and exchanging gifts, the collection also offers ideas for those looking to invest in accessories and wardrobe pieces they can return to after the celebrations. Rather than relying on overtly festive motifs, Burberry works with colour, fabric, and its signature house codes to give everyday silhouettes a seasonal update.

A festive palette of rich colours and heritage checks

Vineyard red brings warmth and a celebratory feel to the collection, while chocolate brown offers a deeper, understated alternative to black. Both shades work well for festive occasions, whether styled for a family gathering or an evening celebration. The palette is paired with Burberry’s iconic House Check, which receives a subtle seasonal update through fabric and finish.

A cashmere-silk blend woven with metallic fibres gives the signature check a delicate sparkle, while a wool-cashmere cape features a tonal check created through jacquard weaving. These details add texture and a hint of shimmer without overwhelming the pieces. Capes and scarves also lend themselves to layering, making them useful additions to a festive wardrobe that extends beyond a single occasion.

The Vanity bag and other pieces worth gifting

Accessories take centre stage in the capsule, particularly the versatile Vanity bag, reimagined in quilted velvet with a chain strap interlaced with the signature check. Its tactile finish and detailing make it a natural choice for festive dressing, while its design gives it appeal beyond the season. Scarves and other soft accessories feature intricate craftsmanship and lightweight fabrics with a glistening finish, offering options for gifting.

The menswear selection follows the same colour story, with tailored shirts and polos incorporating Burberry’s house codes. An embroidered Knight motif appears on an ultra-soft cotton poplin shirt, while light-catching crystals bring a different finish to the motif on a lightweight cotton piqué polo. The pieces offer a considered take on festive dressing for men, balancing classic shapes with seasonal details.

Burberry’s Diwali capsule is available at its stores in India and the Middle East from 11 October.
