India has long been one of the world’s most respected coffee-growing nations, with estates in the south producing beans known for their depth and complexity. Yet for years, much of this high-quality produce was exported, appreciated by international buyers while Indian consumers experienced only a fraction of its potential. But a new generation of artisanal brands is now reshaping that narrative, and at the forefront is Bili Hu, a label devoted to celebrating Indian coffee at its most refined.
Founded by Bharat Singhal, Bili Hu grew out of curiosity. A retail designer by training, Singhal began researching Indian coffee estates and was struck by the remarkable quality being cultivated in regions of Karnataka, such as Chikmagalur. He saw an opportunity to reintroduce these beans to the domestic market, not as mass blends but as carefully-crafted, small-batch offerings. His aim was simple yet ambitious: to elevate the everyday coffee ritual into something more thoughtful and sensory.
The name Bili Hu comes from the delicate white blossom that appears on coffee plants before the cherries form, signalling the beginning of the season. It is a poetic nod to origin and patience, two principles that define the brand’s approach, as per its founder. Beans are handpicked, meticulously sorted, and UV-checked before being roasted in controlled, small batches. This process preserves the integrity of the bean and allows its individual flavour profile to shine, whether that means gentle smokiness, bright fruit notes, or layers of chocolate and caramel.
Today, Bili Hu’s coffees are enjoyed not only by home brewers but also in luxury hotels and premium restaurants that recognise the value of a good cuppa. As India’s hospitality landscape evolves, coffee is increasingly viewed as an essential part of the dining narrative rather than a simple after-meal addition.
Not just that, but Bili Hu was also one of the official sponsors at Harper’s Bazaar LuXperiences 2026, held in New Delhi on February 19, and ensured that guests enjoyed premium flavours throughout the event.
At its heart, Bili Hu is about intention. It invites you to slow down, notice the aroma and texture, and to understand the journey from blossom to the cup. It is a brand that redefines Indian coffee as sophisticated, rooted, and deserving of global admiration.
