August's biggest fashion news, designer collections, and luxury launches

Here's everything you need to keep an eye out for.

Harper's Bazaar India

Luxury fashion is entering a season of reinvention. Heritage houses are revisiting their archives through a contemporary lens, while independent labels continue to push creative boundaries with personal narratives. Whether it's a handbag destined for icon status, a collection based in movement and memory, or accessories inspired by the romance of summer, this week's launches prove that innovation and craftsmanship remain at the heart of fashion's most exciting conversations.

Jimmy Choo embraces the romance of summer

Jimmy Choo's Summer 2026 collection is a love letter to the season itself. Creative director Sandra Choi channels sun-drenched afternoons, fleeting summer romances, and the carefree spirit of escape into a collection that balances softness with strength. Contrasts define the offering—raw textures meet refined craftsmanship, while innocence sits alongside glamour. Rich jewel-toned suede, handwoven raffia, tortoiseshell plexi, and resin embellishments inspired by rough-cut gemstones create tactile depth throughout. Signature silhouettes are reimagined in fresh palettes, while new styles such as the LOVA WEDGE and the transparent AYLA family celebrate fluid femininity with sculptural lines, intricate detailing, and effortless elegance.

HUEMN unveils a new collection

For its latest collection, HUEMN continues its signature dialogue between fashion and storytelling. At its centre is the evolution of the label's iconic oversized shirt, now reworked with cropped proportions, exaggerated sleeves, asymmetric hems, and functional details that prioritise movement. Travel also becomes a design language, most notably through the Kazakh Shirt, printed with an original photograph captured by co-founder and creative director Pranav Kirti Misra during his travels through Kazakhstan. Alongside these explorations, the collection revisits two recurring HUEMN motifs, the Body and Blood. While celebratory body-inspired prints reaffirm the human form as a recurring canvas, the brand's deeply personal Blood narrative, first introduced in 2022, returns through intricate hand embroidery, transforming grief into craftsmanship. The result is a collection that seamlessly balances technical experimentation with emotional resonance.

Dior introduces the Cigale bag

Jonathan Anderson's first accessories chapter for Dior continues with the unveiling of the Dior Cigale bag, introduced as part of the Spring–Summer 2026 collection. Inspired by La Cigale, Christian Dior's iconic Fall/Winter 1952 couture dress, the handbag translates the sculptural silhouette of the original garment into a refined everyday accessory. Crafted in supple calfskin, the design is distinguished by its elegant curved structure, signature bow detail, and polished metallic accents that nod to the House's enduring codes. Available in soft shades including Rose Soupir, Icy Blue, Trench Beige, and Moiré Grey, the Cigale effortlessly balances couture-inspired craftsmanship with contemporary functionality, offering multiple carrying options through its versatile handle and chain.

The Craft Story At The Heart Of JADE's AW26 Collection

JADE by Monica & Karishma's Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, The Hands That Remember, is a celebration of India's living craft traditions and the artisans who keep them alive. Rooted in the House's long-standing commitment to preserving indigenous craftsmanship, the collection builds on the Grassroots Artisans Project, founded by Monica Shah, which works with artisan communities across Palanpur, Bhuj, Telangana, Salem, West Bengal, and beyond. Heritage textiles including Bandhani, Leheriya, Ajrakh, Banarasi weaves, and archival block prints are paired with intricate hand embroideries such as moti bharat, ek taar, kasab, and zardozi, creating contemporary silhouettes that honour tradition through a modern lens. More than a seasonal offering, the collection reaffirms JADE's belief that true luxury lies in craftsmanship and the generations of knowledge behind it.

Louis Vuitton's Multipass evolves

Louis Vuitton continues to expand its accessories universe with the Multipass, a modern carryall that embodies the House's enduring spirit of travel. First introduced during the Cruise 2026 show in Avignon, the slouchy silhouette has quickly established itself as one of the Maison's defining new icons. Designed with adaptability at its core, the Multipass can be worn on the shoulder, crossbody, by hand, or on the wrist thanks to its interchangeable straps and chain. Available in Monogram canvas, grained leather, suede finishes, and Epi trompe-l'œil treatments, the bag effortlessly transitions from day to evening. For Autumn/Winter 2026, Louis Vuitton expands the family with the Mini Multipass, a compact interpretation that retains all the versatility and elegance of its larger counterpart.

Chanakya celebrates a milestone year

Although it's still a month away, consider this your cue to mark the calendar. This September, Chanakya will celebrate 40 years of Chanakya International and 10 years of the Chanakya School of Craft with a city-wide programme in Mumbai from September 8 to 10. Curated by Karishma Swali, creative director of Chanakya International and the Chanakya School of Craft, as well as founder and chairperson of the Chanakya Foundation, the celebrations will unfold through a series of exhibitions honouring the enduring legacy of Indian craftsmanship. At the heart of the programme is Garden of Gestures, presented by the Chanakya School, an immersive exhibition of monumental textile and sculptural works that explores the many languages of making while celebrating the artisans and craft traditions behind them. The programme will conclude with a media address by Swali, offering further insight into Chanakya's evolving vision for craft, education, and cultural preservation.

Burberry brings back the House Check

Burberry is once again putting one of its most recognisable signatures in the spotlight. This season sees the return of the 'House Check' across a refreshed lineup of accessories that celebrate the British brand's rich archive while embracing modern functionality. The collection revisits familiar favourites, including the Pocket bag, alongside new additions such as a structured travel tote and the softly curved Primrose bag. Crafted in the iconic archive beige check canvas and finished with smooth leather trims, polished hardware, and detachable gold-plated Knight charms, the collection strikes a confident balance between timeless heritage and contemporary refinement.

As luxury brands continue to redefine their signatures, this week's launches reveal a shared focus on craftsmanship, versatility, and storytelling. From archival revivals and sculptural accessories to collections rooted in deeply personal narratives, these releases prove that fashion's future is being shaped as much by emotion and heritage as it is by innovation.
