Lily Collins embraces 2023's hue of the year with her lipstick

Colour us convinced.

Harper's Bazaar India

If you're recovering from the post-holiday blues, let Lily Collins' latest post on Instagram be the beauty inspiration you need to perk up another dreary winter's day.

The 33-year-old Emily In Paris star—often spotted in neutral hues to complement her penchant for '60s looks—just opted for a swipe of complexion-lifting rich fuchsia in a recent selfie. Bazaar's beauty inboxes have been inundated with news of 2023's Pantone Colour of the Year, Viva Magenta, but it's Collins' mood-boosting lip that finally has us convinced.

While Collins is no stranger to a bright lip, we wouldn't be surprised if the latest series of Emily In Paris has something to do with this look. The series debut had Emily running around the City of Love in a range of scarlet lip colours, and now, three seasons in, the titular character is getting a little more experimental with her make-up in a range of plummy tones and deep berries to mirror Emily's journey.

The title character's new hair is also a factor. In an interview with US Weekly, the show's supervising make-up artist, Aurelie Payen, explains that as Emily's fringe frames her eyes, "Why not play with red and lots of bright colours, orange, pink and even very strong brown hues," she says.

Payen continues, "She has lots of things to say and lots of things to deal with, caught in-between Madeline and Sylvie, who are the American and French opposite, but both strong, beautiful, bold women.” No specific lipstick was mentioned on Collins' post, but given that she's a spokesperson for Lancôme, the brand's L'Absolu Rouge Drama Ink in 502 might be the one.

The pop of colour on an almost-bare face is a great way to instantly look dressed up for your next Zoom meeting too (now that those are back on the menu...). Add some earrings and consider your back-to-work look, sorted.
