This new spot in Delhi redefines european dining without trying too hard—and that’s the point

Where every drink tells a story and every meal feels like a journey, Latango sets the tone for unforgettable nights.

Delhi’s dining scene has had its fair share of new openings, but there’s something different about this one. Latango doesn’t chase trends. Conceived by Sahil Sambhi (the name behind Japonico, Bawri, Berlin, and Vietnom), this all-day European bar moves to its rhythm, balancing old-world elegance with modern ease.

From the moment you enter, the city noise melts away. The interiors, created by Vivek Guha of Orphic Designs, strike a perfect balance between raw concrete and warm copper tones, softened by plush bouclé seating that invites lingering conversations. The stacked-glass bar centrepiece doubles as a piece of art, setting the mood for an evening that’s both stylish and welcoming.

The kitchen is led by Italian chefs Roberto Blondi and Giuseppe Stanchi, who honour classic European dishes while subtly weaving in influences from their travels. Expect dishes such as Atlantic crab tagliolini that evoke the southern Italian coast, scallop sashimi with a refined European twist, a comforting Café de Paris omelette, and other expertly crafted plates that balance tradition with quiet innovation.

Desserts such as an impossibly light tiramisu round out the meal with a dreamy, classic finish, embodying the kitchen’s commitment to technique and subtle flair. What stands out is the restraint: nothing feels overdone or performative. The plating is elegant but unfussy, the flavours confident yet familiar.

The cocktail menu is the most memorable part. Crafted by Italian bartenders Giovanni and Terry, in collaboration with Vikram Achanta’s Tulleeho team, each drink is part of Liquid Letters from Europe, a poetic, cross-cultural collection that reads like love letters across time and taste. Imagine Kafka writing to Rumi, or Frida Kahlo drunk-dialling Confucius under Shanghai’s neon sky. The menu features bold, inventive blends such as the Cubist Negroni and Nudist Picante. Even the virgin drinks are treated with equal reverence—crafted not as imitations, but as standalone expressions built on mood, structure, and intent.

As the sun sets, the mood shifts. The lighting dims, the pace softens, and the playlist deepens—the kind that lingers in your head for hours after. Latango doesn’t rush the night; it lets it unfold.

For those who want to savour the moment rather than rush through it, this place offers a welcome pause. It’s where conversations stretch, flavours echo, and the night carries on with quiet ease.
