Etihad celebrates 20 years of connecting India to the world, through the beautiful emirate of Abu Dhabi. Today, travel is much more than simply moving from point A to point B. Modern travellers seek not only to reach their destinations, but also to savour the journey—enjoying their time at the airport and an in-flight experience that prioritises convenience and comfort.

Etihad Airways is at the forefront of this evolution, setting a new benchmark in the aviation industry. As the national airline of the UAE, Etihad recently celebrated two decades of connecting India to Abu Dhabi and beyond. Reflecting on this milestone, Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, commented, “India is a strategically important market for Etihad, and we are immensely proud to mark 20 years of serving this incredible country. When we launched flights to Mumbai in 2004, it was our eighth global destination. Since then, we have expanded to around 90 destinations and we are aiming for around 130 by 2030.”

Etihad has strengthened its ties with India through multiple high-profile partnerships, including sponsorships of sports teams such as the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai City Football Club. Beyond sports, actor Katrina Kaif appeared as Etihad’s global brand ambassador.

Building on its commitment to authentic travel experiences, Etihad has transformed its onboard offerings for Indian travellers with a menu of fresh, regionally inspired cuisine crafted in collaboration with local chefs in each of Etihad’s 11 Indian gateways. By bringing the taste of India to the skies, they ensure that no matter the destination, passengers feel at home with every bite.

Celebrations don’t just end there; Etihad Airways guests travelling to the US can now bypass long queues upon their arrival in the US, thanks to the US Customs and Border Protection pre-clearance facility at Zayed International Airport. With this, Etihad’s guests will arrive as domestic passengers and Abu Dhabi has solidified its position as the premier US gateway.

Elena Sorlini, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, remarked, “This facility strengthens our ambition to be a top travel hub, providing a unique and seamless experience for US-bound guests.”

With Etihad’s dedication to exceptional and seamless travel experiences, you will enjoy an elevated journey from the moment you enter the airport to your final destination.
