Sol de Janeiro paints Bandra in bold colours with its one-of-a-kind Tira launch

With a colourful mural, a creative community, and a celebration of beauty rooted in culture, Sol de Janeiro and Tira brought warmth and energy to the heart of Bandra

Harper's Bazaar India

Bandra, long known for its creative pulse and street-side stories, turned into a canvas of colour and joy as Sol de Janeiro officially launched on Tira. In partnership with Indian street artist collective Kalakarah, the beauty brand unveiled a striking Sol-inspired mural on Chapel Road, one of Mumbai’s most recognisable art streets. The moment marked more than a retail launch. It was a cultural statement rooted in colour, community, and creativity.

Set against the lively neighbourhood, the mural instantly stood out for its tropical and playful energy. It brought Sol de Janeiro’s signature spirit to life while seamlessly blending into Bandra’s artistic identity. For passersby, it offered a moment of surprise and delight. For the brand, it was a way to start a new chapter in India while staying deeply connected to local culture.

A mural that reflects joy, colour, and culture

The artwork made a bold visual statement, spotlighting two of Sol de Janeiro’s most loved icons: Cheirosa 62 Perfume Mist & Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. Designed to spark curiosity and conversation, the mural captured the brand’s feel-good philosophy through vibrant colours and expressive details. It injected freshness into the neighbourhood while celebrating warmth, confidence, and self-expression.

Tira and Sol de Janeiro chose Chapel Road as the backdrop for the launch, as it is a space that already thrives on art and individuality. The result was a creative intersection of global beauty and Mumbai’s street culture, one that felt organic rather than staged.

Community at the heart of the launch

Taking the experience a step further, Tira and Sol de Janeiro invited top creators to co-paint sections of the mural live. What unfolded was a collaborative moment where art became a shared language. The live painting transformed the activation into an interactive experience, making it as much about participation as it was about the final artwork.

Creators, artists, and onlookers came together in a celebration of creativity and collective expression. The mural evolved in real time, reinforcing the idea that beauty, much like art, is best experienced together.

Extending the celebration beyond the street

The celebration continued with an immersive takeover at Bandra favourite Subko Mary Lodge, where 70 top influencers gathered for a day curated by Sol de Janeiro and Tira. From exploring the brand’s iconic creams and mists to sipping on a Cheirosa 62–inspired latte topped with caramel and pistachio cold foam, the experience blended sensorial discovery with indulgence.

The space featured content-ready moments, including life-size displays of bestsellers and personalised giveaways hand-painted by an artist, echoing the floral elements of the Chapel Road mural. The day wrapped up with a visit back to the mural, completing a full-circle journey from product discovery to cultural connection. Through colour, creativity, and community, Sol de Janeiro’s launch on Tira left Bandra a little brighter than before.
