#TrendAlert: Everything you need to know about the short shorts that are taking over celebs' summer wardrobes

The popular trend from last year has made its way back into our closets, and how!

Harper's Bazaar India

While our love for breezy maxis and floral dresses will only increase this summer, there's one fashion trend (from last year) that is likely to dominate our wardrobe for the next few months. We're talking about the short shorts or micro shorts that have been championed by the likes of Hailey Bieber and Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney among others. In fact, K-pop idol Lisa attended the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2024 show sporting one of these!

The prevalence of short shorts on the SS24 runways signals their continued influence and popularity in the world of fashion, to the extent that they have earned the status of a must-have summer wardrobe staple.

ON THE RUNWAY

The spring/summer fashion season witnessed a massive resurgence of the Y2K micro shorts with the trend dominating runways across fashion capitals worldwide. The variety in styles and materials showcased by renowned designers depicted the versatility and adaptability of this iconic piece.

Tom Ford, creative director, Peter Hawking chose cream shorts with an open leather jacket in the same colour, while Versace adopted a sleeker look with the silk duchess shirt paired with micro shorts. Gucci's Sabato marked the opening of the show with a long sleeveless anchor grey coat paired with a white tank top and very short shorts. At the Alexander McQueen show, a perfect indigo denim jacket with slashed shoulders was paired with micro denim shorts. The Italian luxury brand Max Mara, too, offered a parade of short shorts. Most recently, they were spotted on the Dior Fall 2024 show in New York.
