Furry accents, sleek satin finishes, shimmery soft textures and the signature ruffled neck accentuated Gucci Cruise 2026 collection that was presented on May 15 at the House’s historic Archive in Palazzo Settimanni in Florence, a fitting backdrop, we would say. The House was born in Florence in 1921, and fittingly, returned to the city in pursuit of its own creative renaissance for its next chapter under the creative helm of Demna Gvasalia in just a matter of months.
“Gucci is Florence and Florence is Gucci,” said chief executive officer Stefano Cantino, paying homage to the city’s cultural heritage and the impact it has on the line.
The collection is modern and playful, whilst still rooted in the House's signature elegance and glamour. Leather, velvet, and fur accents as well as long gowns, such as a dramatic polka-dot design with a sculptured triple-bow on one shoulder were a highlight of the collection.
The collection is a glimpse into how fashion will look for us in 2026—quiet, chic, and soft with occasional maximalist silhouettes. Think structured cigarette pants, skirts with a seemingly formal silhouette, leather and florals for bottoms accompanied by the signature archival GG motif belt, and khaki and neutrals as the colour palette.
The line also signalled the return of maximalist accessories, with oversized aviator sunglasses, statement earrings, and chunky bags carrying the collection through. The Gucci Giglio bag, unveiled during the Cruise 2026 show is a tribute to Florence and its iconic symbol—the giglio, or lily, a motif that has represented the city since the medieval era. The bag seamlessly ties heritage to modernity in true Gucci fashion.
The Gucci Cruise 2026 collection’s direction hints at what might lie ahead as the house prepares for exciting times ahead with Gvasalia taking over soon.
