Deciding what to watch every day can feel like a Herculean task. Especially after you’ve spent your days staring at colourless excel sheets and listening to clients complain. So, when you get those few hours to yourself at the end of the day or on the weekend, the last thing you want to do is waste (seemingly) a hundred hours scrolling through the homepages of OTT platforms wondering whether a good drama or the latest true crime would help you unwind. Or should you stick to the classics and put on a random episode of Modern Family? It’s a real conundrum.
Thankfully, we’re here to be your watch list Yoda. To ensure you’ll never land in this head-scratcher of a situation again, we’ve rounded up a few OTT shows that you can mindlessly watch on the days you feel like being a couch potato.
Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives
Are you someone who unwinds to reality TV? If you’re nodding then we strongly recommend dropping whatever heavy-on-the-head show you’re watching and switching to Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. There’s nothing more relaxing than mindlessly watching four rich, lifelong friends go through the ebbs and flows of life.
It’s easily one of the most-watched reality shows in the country. After Bigg Boss and Indian Matchmaking, of course. So, here’s hoping season 2 of Fabulous Lives (which releases on 2nd September) makes an even bigger splash than season 1. We can’t wait to see what these ladies have been up to.
Never Have I Ever
Nothing in Devi’s life has ever come easy. It’s one sticky situation after another. But it’s the relatability and easygoing factor that makes Never Have I Ever one of the most popular shows of our generation. Especially since season 3, which released just last month came with some gripping twists and turns. So, ICYMI, take this as the universe signalling you to watch Never Have I Ever. It will be me-time well spent.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law
On the days you feel like your job is a little extra difficult (everyone has those days), think of Jennifer Walters. She is a 30-something lawyer who not only has a full-time job but is a 6-foot-7-inch super-powered giant green hulk. That has to complicate things! This show will be a part of phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it has all the markings to be an easy, breezy watch. Isn’t that what we’re looking for?
Paper Girls
An adaptation of Brian K Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s comic book, Paper Girls revolves around a group of four young girls in the 80s. The morning after Halloween, these girls find themselves in a peculiar situation. They somehow time travelled to 2019, right in the middle of an ongoing war between two time-jumping factions. Think Stranger Things meets Dark. However, while these sci-fi elements make Paper Girls extremely gripping, the essence of the show lies within the way preteen female friendship have been portrayed by the four protagonists. It will definitely provide an escapist solution and help you unwind and recharge.
Our Blues
A slice-of-life show that takes pride in its exaggeration-free portrayal of its characters, Our Blues is one of the most easy-on-the-brain K-dramas of 2022. The beauty of this show lies in the abstract, slice-of-life portrayal of its characters. Initially, Our Blues seems to be about the eccentric and somewhat monotonous lives of the people who live in Jejudo, a province in South Korea. However, over the course of its 20 episodes, the show weaves unadulterated stories of over a dozen characters together subtly and simply. That is exactly why this show deserves a spot on your late-night or Sunday morning casual watch list.
The Girl In The Picture
Sometimes, in order to unwind, you have to escape into a story that isn’t yours. And what does that better than a true crime documentary? Especially, one about a woman who was found dying by the side of the road. This one incident opened a can of worms that spanned through decades and still hasn’t come to a definitive conclusion. From numerous identities to abducted children, The Girl In The Picture will leave your head feeling like you’ve gotten off the rollercoaster at Ferrari World. But hey, at least you won’t be worrying about the client meeting that didn’t go as well as you’d hoped.
