Having a slumber party? Here are some of the most binge-worthy shows to watch

Who said sleepovers are not for adults?

Harper's Bazaar India

Whether you’re a pre-teen turning up to a friend's house with a sleeping bag or an adult showing up with a batch of homemade screwdrivers, you can’t have a sleepover with your girls without something to binge on. It's a tradition that is rooted in pure fact. However, the tricky part is choosing what to watch, and scrolling through all the options over a number of platforms which becomes a sheer waste of precious time.

From true crime and reality TV, to a classic sleepover show like Gilmore Girls, we’ve narrowed your choices down from a few thousand to six shows that will not disappoint. Read through and pick one of these must-watch shows to enjoy while snuggling with your girl gang.

The Crown

One of the most binge-able shows of our time, The Crown dramatises the story of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The beauty of this show is that you are hooked from the get-go and it’s worth all the hype it has garnered. It takes you through various stages of the Queen’s life and deep dives into the political and personal events that shaped her long reign. It’s just the right level of drama blended with scenes that will keep you at the edge of your seat. And of course, who doesn’t love a Diana plot line?

If you haven’t gotten to this show yet, it’s not too late. And even if you have, there is nothing like a good sleepover rerun.

Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story

Following the life and heinous crimes of notorious serial killer Jeffery Dahmer, this show is not for the faint of heart. It’s packed with scenes that will make your soul jump out from under your skin. For the uninitiated, Dahmer was convicted to 15 consecutive lifetimes in prison for killing and dismembering at least 17 young men and boys between 1978 and 1991.

The 10-episode series takes the audience on a wild ride. It depicts the unbelievable negligence on the police’s part and takes us through some of Dahmer’s most heinous crimes. If it’s a good true-crime show you are looking for, this is a can’t, can’t miss.

Gilmore Girls

You've probably watched the adventures of Rory and Lorelai 500 times. You know the characters like they’re your friends and the plot lines are stories from your life. However, writing a binge list without talking about a classic like Gilmore Girls just doesn’t seem right. It’s a sleepover staple and it comes with a no-boredom clause. Cuddling with your girls, munching on popcorn and nachos while watching Rory stumbles and fumbles through her life just feels right. Wouldn’t you agree?

Do Revenge

Do Revenge is Netflix’s newest dark comedy that puts a new-age twist on Hitchcock’s Strangers On A Train. It’s a vigilante story about how two young women form an unlikely alliance to exact revenge on each other’s sexual abusers. Starring Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke, the treatment of this show is chipper with a strong undercurrent of seriousness. And that’s what makes it such a compelling watch.

Selling Sunset

If true crime and sappy dramas don’t fit your sleepover’s vibe, maybe it’s time to turn to some reality TV. And let's be honest, there is nothing that is quite as intriguing as escaping into other people’s lives. There is a reason these shows have such a cult following. Selling Sunset is one such show, and its entertainment quotient is through the roof.

It revolves around the agents working at the Oppenheim Group, a high-end real estate firm in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, the show released its fifth season and was renewed for a sixth and seventh. It’s a perfect blend of luxury real estate-meets-drama times two. From competing for listings that are worth millions, to steamy romances and some of the best feuds reality TV has to offer, Selling Sunset will not disappoint.

The Sex Lives of College Girls

We’ve all had those sleepovers that were all about watching Serena Vander Woodsen and Blair Waldorf fight over who gets to be ‘queen’ of their high school. Coming-of-age dramas (from the convoluted twists and turns of Euphoria all the way to the switch-off-your-brain-and-watch One Tree Hill) just hit differently. And that is the vibe Mindy Kaling’s The Sex Lives of College Girls encapsulates.

Even though its foundation is rooted in these classic high-school dramas, it offers a more realistic spin and is, therefore, more relatable. The show revolves around four college-going women who band together to make sense of sex, sexualities, and everything in-between. They help each other battle labels, stereotypes, sexism, and celebrate female friendships!
