These may be the perfect weekend watches if you also love to hate.

Harper's Bazaar India

When it comes to all things cinema and shows, we, at Bazaar India, are always here to tell you what to watch and be engrossed in. When it comes to the best women-centric movies and shows, the best comedy films, rom-com, courtroom dramas, you name it, we’ve got a best list just for you. Knowing that time is your most precious asset, it’s equally important to tell you about the movies that are right at the bottom of the barrel. Yes, you guessed it, the worst and lowest-ranked movies according to the Internet Movie Database, better known as IMDb.

Saying that these movies are bad, horrible, or outright suck wouldn’t be wrong. But, well, if you are in for a weekend of "love to hate," why not.

Saving Christmas, 2014 (IMDb rating 1.3)

This movie is so bad that it witnessed many people creating an IMDb account just to give this film a low rating. A film about Christmas is supposed to raise everyone’s spirits in the festive season, but it does the opposite of everything that was required. The plot is absolutely awful, we don’t even know if it counts as one, but we’ll still try to explain it. With his Christmas party failing due to his cynical brother-in-law, Kirk Cameron looks to save the day by showing him that Jesus Christ remains a crucial component of the over-commercialised holiday. And here starts the preaching that is lengthy and boring (would be an understatement). Along with amateurish camera work, shoddy acting, and direction, it’s a film that surely going to make you question why you decided to give this film a shot.

Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2, 2004 (IMDb rating 1.5)

Baby Geniuses is a horrible film and Superbabies: Baby Geniuses, its sequel, decided to make things worse. The film stars Jon Voigh, a media mogul hell-bent on cracking the code to baby talk. The tiny tots, on the other hand, must figure out a way to put this to an end. This film, made for kids, seems to have dialogues written by one as well for they lack humour and engagement whatsoever. No prizes for guessing that should you have the courage and time to waste over the film, you’ll hardly find yourself laughing throughout the film. This is what happens when you’ve got lazy writing and direction that’s devoid of any idea or inspiration.

Manos: The Hands of Fate, 1966 (IMDb rating 1.6)

Horror movies are loved because of the visuals and sound effects. But when they’re done bad, they aren’t just an eyesore, but an earsore as well. This film is about a family who, on a desert trip, run into a cult that uses human hands as sacrificial offerings to their god. Where does one even begin to talk about what’s wrong with the movie? The editing is whimsical, in not a good way at all, with some scenes too long and some too short. There’s too much of silence and plenty of continuity errors (if you’re paying attention). An absolute embarrassment is the audience being able to see the clapboard seconds before a scene. Making matters worse is knowing that the film was shot without sound (you don’t need a clapboard for this). With there being no ambient sound, the audience feels like the film is shot in a vacuum. Lastly, the budget was so poor that a single lady does the dubbing for all woman characters (this includes an adult dubbing for a kid). An absolute disaster, even if it’s only 74 minutes long.

Birdemic: Shock and Terror, 2010 (IMDb rating 1.7)

The film was shot on a meagre budget of $10000 and it clearly shows. This poorly-made attempt of The Birds sees two citizens from Half Moon Bay, California, fight back a horde of mutated birds descending upon this quiet place. With the scenes starting without a proper marker, you’ll see the lack of flow from one shot to the next. The same can be said about the completely mismatched sound as well. The acting is bad, the special effects even worse with the birds looking like cardboard cutouts hung from a string and the music is anything but horrifying and eerie. Truth be told, there’s only one way to enjoy this film and that’s if you treat it like a joke.

Disaster Movie, 2008 (IMDb rating 1.9)

All that this film tried to do was be funny, and it fell flat on its face. And that’s thanks to the movie lacking a single original joke, as everything was spoofed from popular films released that year and the one before (Juno, No Country for Old Men, Wanted, Enchanted, Kung Fu Panda, Hancock, etc). Along with starring the likes of Kim Kardashian, Carmen Electra, Vanessa Minnillo, Nicole Palker, and Matt Lantner, the editing and continuity errors make it a painful watch (even if you’re expecting nothing out of the movie, it’s important to get the basics right). The jokes aren’t just bad, they’re borderline painful as they try their best to be funny not knowing that they’re being sexist, racist, and homophobic. The end product is a film that’s stupid, insensitive, and one that’s a complete waste of time.

Radhe, 2021 (IMDb rating 1.9)

Yes, Bollywood’s made it into the list as well with this Salman Khan film getting a not-so-honourable mention. Even the most ardent Khan fan will advise you to skip this one. Released during the global pandemic back in 2021, many reviews called it the latest variant (that’s how bad it was). Watching Khan go on a manhunt to find the wealthiest man in the town secretly running a crime syndicate was dull, lousy, and good for nothing. That’s what happens when you don’t pay attention to the plot and screenplay, followed by bad acting, mediocre music, and a movie-watching experience that’s best described as forgettable.

The Hottie and the Nottie, 2008 (IMDb rating 2.0)

You might not fear anything after watching this film, for you have seen the worst. Every movie that stars Paris Hilton seems to end up being a disaster and this film is no different. It’s about an attractive lady who agrees to go on a date with a man only if he finds a suitor for her unattractive best friend. There is a script here. However, but it’s a bad one that has no character development. In a romantic comedy (if you can call this film one), one would expect romance and/or comedy, but not here. Watching the film that’s filled with unknown actors who do their best impression of how not to act should certainly motivate you to give an audition yourself. How bad can you be? Certainly not worse than them.
