#TrendAlert: Big, bold, and fabulous sunglasses reign supreme on the Winter/Fall runways

Larger than life sunnies are back and here's what we recommend.

Harper's Bazaar India

Large and over-the-top sunglasses seem to be the latest addition to the 'once-forgotten trends staging a comeback' bunch. Oversized sunglasses have long been a lasting symbol of coolness—championed by all, from Audrey Hepburn to Bella Hadid. The epitome of fashion and function, bug-eyed glasses add a certain mystique that’s hard to resist. What could the wearer be concealing? I guess we’ll never know! The likes of Anna Wintour and even Jackie Kennedy have sworn by this eyewear to observe everyone whilst remaining hidden. Though lenses may have downsized in the ‘80s and ‘90s, the 2000s saw a resurgence in the trend. The Olsen twins, Kim Kardashian, and Paris Hilton have all admittedly taken refuge behind colossal shades, especially when evading paparazzi.

It seems as though no one is immune to the old Hollywood glamour of oversized eyewear—with the fall-winter fashion week season in full swing, off-duty models are trading in their itty bitty shades and taking to the streets (and ramps)! The Diesel show in Milan, the Michael Kors show in New York City, and the Burberry show in London prominently featured models strutting the ramp while sporting this accessory. Even Beyoncé donned a pair as she sat in the front row at the Luar show in her Gaurav Gupta ensemble!
