7 spectacular new OTT releases to watch this October

Not everyone’s bitten by the Cricket World Cup bug this month as the best teams in the world battle it out for the sport’s top prize. And that's enough a reason to catch up with the newest shows that are streaming this month. Right from a docu-series on the first global football superstar to Tabu teaming up again with Vishal Bhardwaj, and watching Loki, the God of Mischief up to his tricks again, October has got some very exciting shows that’ll have you at the edge of your seat. 

Beckham

 

If he wasn’t a footballer, he surely would have been a supermodel. David Beckham, is inarguably football’s first global phenomenon who charmed his way, not just with his football skills but his gorgeous golden hair and good looks. This four-part docuseries, revolves around the life and career of one of the most talented English midfielders to grace the beautiful game. It’s an amazing insight into the life and career of David Beckham through archived footage and fantastic interviews with Beckham; his wife, Victoria; friends, family, and former teammates.

Khufiya 

 

The upcoming film sees director Vishal Bhardwaj make his OTT debut. Produced and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the movie is inspired by true events and is based on the novel Escape to Nowhere will see him team up with Tabu once again where she will be seen alongside the likes of Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Azmeri Haque Badhon. It revolves around the life of Krishna Mehra, a R&AW operative who is assigned to track down a mole selling India's defence secrets, while she is grappling with her dual identity as a spy and a lover.

Lupin (Part 3)

 

The world’s favourite thief returns for part 3 of Netflix’s most popular French original series. The series maintains its fast pace, excellent dialogue, and excellent performance from lead Omar Sy as per the other two released parts. As far as the synopsis goes, here’s what to expect. “Now in hiding, Assane must learn to live far from his wife and son. With the suffering they endure because of him, Assane can’t stand it any longer and decides to return to Paris to make them a crazy proposal: leave France and start a new life elsewhere. But the ghosts of the past are never far away, and an unexpected return will turn his plans upside down.”

Loki Season 2 

 

In the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, where chaos, trickery, and a dash of mischief are the order of the day, Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston, is back with a bang. As the dust settles from the astonishing events of the first season, the second season promises new excitement as it thrusts the infamous God of Mischief into a new set of adventures with the Time Variance Authority. From old allies to ancient adversaries, the stage is set for a wild ride through time and space, filled with unexpected twists and turns. The series also features Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E Grant.

Mumbai Diaries Season 2 

 

The second season of the much-anticipated Mumbai Diaries narrates a gripping tale of spirit and perseverance in the face of adversity. While the first season depicted the untold story of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and hospital staff who worked tirelessly to save hundreds of lives during the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai, the second season begins months after the events of season one as the staff at Bombay General Hospital confront a new set of challenges brought about by a day of torrential rain and the devastation that follows. 

The season brings back the ensemble star cast from the previous season including Konkona Sen Sharma, Mohit Raina, Tina Desai, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Satyajeet Dubey, Natasha Bharadwaj, Mrunmayee Deshpande, and Prakash Belawadi, alongside newer cast members such as Parambrata Chattopadhyay, and Riddhi Dogra.

Everybody Loves Diamonds Season 1

Everybody Loves Diamonds is an eight-part Italian heist series with a comedic twist that’s inspired by the 2003 ‘Antwerp Diamond Heist,’ dubbed ’the world's largest theft of diamonds.’ The series follows a team of small-time Italian thieves, led by Leonardo Notarbartolo (Kim Rossi Stuart), who manage to deceive top-level security with a genius plan and steal precious stones worth millions of dollars from the Antwerp Diamond Centre.

Kaala Paani

 

Created and co-directed by Sameer Saxena, the Netflix series that’s described as ‘a grounded story about the fight for survival and questions audiences on how far they would go to survive’, revolves around the life of several people stranded in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, after the outbreak of a mysterious illness. The cast includes Mona Singh, Amey Wagh, Sukant Goel, Arushi Sharma, Radhika Mehrotra, Vikas Kumar, Chinmay Mandlekar, and Poornima Indrajith.
