The best hairstyles from the Ambani-Merchant pre-wedding event to take inspiration from

Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhat, Shanaya Kapoor, and others were spotted with chic hairdos.

Harper's Bazaar India

The three-day Ambani-Merchant pre-wedding event in Jamnagar was truly a cultural extravaganza, with more stylish looks than possible to keep track of, electrifying performances, and appearances by Bollywood stars as well as dignitaries from around the world.

While the stunning outfits throughout the festivities were a sight to behold, the different hairstyles definitely got our attention too. From face-framing waves, slicked back buns, to unconventional braids, we give you a low down of some of our favourite hairstyles from the event.

Let loose

Let’s start with the easiest style on the list—soft romantic waves. Alia Bhatt wore her hair down for most of her looks at the pre-wedding event, and instead let her outfits grab all the eyeballs. The hairdo is ideal if you have a lob (a long bob) or if your hair is at an awkward length where it’s neither too long or too short, making it a task to style.

Braid it up

Braids will always be one of the best hairstyles for traditional outfits, as Deepika Padukone proves. The braid starts out thick near the base and ends thin at the ends, which was achieved with a brown thread braided through her locks. Take notes for the next time you want to level up your braid.

Sleek buns are in

Slicked back buns ruled supreme at the three-day festivities, with most celebs donning the hairstyle. Kareena Kapoor Khan wore her locks in a clean bun so all attention was on her dazzling black sequined sari and silver danglers. If you’re wearing an over-the-top outfit, balance it out with a bun styled with plenty of gel for a clean look.

Add a twist to your usual hairstyle

Sonam Kapoor Ahuja decided to take her braid up a notch with braided twists on the crown, adding just the perfect amount of drama! So, the next time you’re willing to experiment, opt for this classy look that will go well with both traditional and modern attire.

Flowers always look chic

Sister duo Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor both donned flowers in their hair, albeit in different styles. If you’re in doubt about how to jazz up your hairdo without much fuss, their hairstyles will give you plenty of inspiration. While Khushi accessorised her simple bun with a gajra, Janhvi opted for an elegant half up-half down updo with two flowers in her hair that matched her outfit.

More is more

Don’t shy away from hair accessories as they can elevate any look instantly without much effort. Take a cue out of Karisma Kapoor’s updo that had an elaborate pearl-embellished matha patti as the focal point, which perfectly matched her white ensemble.
