Summer is here, which means looking for restaurants and menus that will help cool us down as the heat increases. These six new openings across Mumbai, Goa, Delhi, and Bengaluru will stop your search, with their fresh takes on well-loved cuisines as well as bringing out totally new menus. From an eclectic Mexican restaurant in Mumbai to a sunny brunch spot in Goa, go through our list of the new openings that should be on your radar.

Mumbai

Mezcalita

Authentic Mexican fare is still a rarity in Mumbai, but with Mezcalita, the snazzy and vibrant new restaurant in Churchgate, that’s all set to change. The menu covers a range of dishes from across the country—think classic guacamole, ensaladas (salads), ceviches, entradas (starters that include crowd-favourite quesadillas and tacos) to hearty mains. Start with a frozen mezcal (the Mexican alcohol beverage made from agave) margarita and move onto dishes like the Nachos Con Chile, Chicken Quesadillas, to ultra-spicy Habanero Prawns. All the tacos are made with masa dough—we love the Birria Tacos, where you dip the lamb-based tacos into a lamb broth before digging in. To finish, order the sumptuous Strawberry Tres Leches Cake.

Bayroute—new brunch launch

Bayroute, the Middle Eastern restaurant that has multiple outposts dotted throughout Mumbai, is here with an irresistible Sunday brunch menu that is all about giving Middle Eastern classics a fun twist. Sample dishes that include Shorba Manti, which is a mildly-spiced Armenian lamb soup served with lamb dumplings, garlic yogurt and the Dukkah Lamb Shawarma that features pulled lamb, hazelnut dukkah (a Middle Eastern nutty condiment), and mint labneh. Apart from these, feast on a variety of grilled dishes, sourdough bread called tarah, hummus, mezze, and more. Round off your meal with a decadent Zafrani Milk Cake or a Baklava.

Jamjar Diner, the popular cafe in Bandra serving comfort food, is here with an all-new menu curated by chef Jason Hudanish. The dishes range from wholesome breakfast dishes to light and refreshing mains in theme with summer. If you’re team savoury breakfast, try their Char Siu Pork Bennies or the Lamb Merquez Studmuffins, and if you love all things sweet, then try the decadent Tres Leches French Toast. Apart from their signature tacos, dig into new dishes like the Poke Bowls, Snapper Ceviche, and Bahn Mi sandwiches. Cool down with boozy concoctions like the Horchata, a Mexican rice-based drink, and a few other choices. Don’t forget their dessert offerings—Strawberry Pavlova, Churros, or the Soft Baked Cookie with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

Goa

Hello Sunshine

Assagao seems to be the hottest neighbourhood to open a restaurant or cafe in Goa, with a new place popping up in the area every few months. While Hello Sunshine might be located in the vicinity, it is trying to differentiate itself from the rest of the eateries by focusing on building a place with a community-forward, homely vibe. The food is a reflection of their vision—serving only breakfast, brunch and lunch. Expect a vegetarian-heavy menu with eggs making a frequent appearance. Dig into dishes like Turkish eggs, falafel wraps, crepes doused in honey and cinnamon, smoothie bowls, chia puddings, and more.

Delhi-NCR

Cafe De Flora—new summer menu

One of the most Instagrammable cafes in the capital with its Parisian vibes, Cafe De Flora is the perfect option for a date night or a summer brunch out with friends. The new exclusive menu features refreshing drinks that include a wide range of iced teas and herbal blends. As for the food, you’re in for a Mediterranean treat, with dishes like loaded bruschettas, hummus platters, and more.

Bengaluru

The Kind Roastery and Brew Room

Adding to the string of chic cafes and roasteries in the city is The Kind Roastery and Brewroom, located in the relatively quieter neighbourhood of Marenahalli. The sprawling cafe is spread across two floors, and has a soothing ambience that offers a peaceful respite from the hustle-bustle of city life. Sip on their specialty coffee while you snack on dishes (mostly vegetarian and vegan) like Giant Ravioli, Sourdough Tartines, Dry Khao Suey Salad, Mushroom Curried Dimsums, and more.
