As someone who has tried making fresh pasta from scratch at home, I’ll be the first one to admit that it’s a challenging task, especially if you don’t have special equipment like a pasta machine. And while dried pasta is readily available at supermarkets, it doesn’t compare to the rich taste and toothsome texture of the freshly made stuff. Luckily for pasta lovers, there is a new crop of artisanal pasta makers in metros delivering small-batch handmade pasta. From soft gnocchi, herb, and flower-laminated ravioli in unique shapes, to spaghetti, fettuccine, tagliatelle and more made with dough tinted with vegetable purees, take your pick.

Peach & Melon

If we had to describe Peach & Melon’s aesthetic pasta offerings, we would say they are almost too pretty to eat. Almost because they are as flavourful as they are visually appealing. Minal Punjabi, the founder, started doling out fresh pasta from her home in Santa Cruz during the pandemic, and her business has only grown. Her pastas, which range from stunning ravioli laminated with edible flowers to miso mushroom agnolotti, are made without preservatives or additives and make for an indulgent weeknight dinner on days you’re too exhausted to cook from scratch.

Pasta Dal Cuore 

Producer turned pasta-maker Ayesha Seksaria runs her brand Pasta Dal Cuore from Gurugram, where she offers monthly menus featuring a wide range of home-made and fresh pastas. The pastas are handmade instead of using a machine, so the end result is truly rustic and one-of-a-kind. You can pick up your order or have it delivered. Pick from fresh pastas like fresh herb ravioli and spaghetti along with in-house sauces. 

Our Pasta Lab

Started by a husband-wife duo, Our Pasta Lab is one of the first ones to venture into the business—they offer an extensive menu that features everything from fettuccine and gnocchi, to radiator, a unique ruffled pasta shape. There lasagne is a must-try too, and if you want to whip up a quick meal without making a pasta sauce from scratch, they have plenty of variants available for that, too. 

Casarecce

Meaning home-made in Italian, which is apt for a home kitchen serving fresh pasta, Casarecce is a pasta delivery service helmed by chef Sambhavi Joshi that has a menu with classic offerings like tortellini, fettuccine, and more made with beetroot, turmeric, and charcoal.
