The best trends to emerge out of Coachella 2023

Outfit inspo for your next music festival.

Harper's Bazaar India

World’s trendiest music festival just happened this weekend, and we cannot get over the outfits served by the attendees. Every year fashion fanatics look forward to Coachella and the quirky fashion trends it brings. This year’s edition was headlined by global artists like Blackpink, Frank Ocean, as well as Rosalia, and was attended by celebrities and influencers from all over the world.

Back in 2016 Coachella was known for its fringe jackets, floral dresses, gladiator shoes, an overall bohemian vibe, and ‘Coachella queen’ Vanessa Hudgens. But, scrolling through Coachella pictures now, nothing is the same, Vanessa Hudgens is not even attending this year. Although it is sad to see the boho chic Coachella aesthetic die, some new and interesting trends have taken over and we are all here for it because what is life without evolving? Here are some fashion trends that we think are the new music festival vibe.

Denim for days

Whether it was co-ords or playsuits, the festival attendees were dripping in denim. From fashion influencer Emma Chamberlain rocking a chic bandeau and mini skirt co-ord to musician Kali Uchis giving a Y2K twist to denim-on-denim, this year’s festival was full of ideas on how to style these pieces which might already be in your wardrobe.

White out

Wearing white to a festival seems like a disaster waiting to happen, especially in a crowded music festival located in a desert. But several celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Zoey Deutch have successfully made white the unofficial colour of Coachella. Their outfits scream comfy-chic which is perfect for the hustle and bustle of a festival. If you are looking for some laid-back inspo you can always look at their outfits.

Naked but not naked

This new sheer clothing trend is all over red carpets this season, and has even managed to infiltrate Coachella. If being bold is your style then this trend is for you. You can either wear a bralette under your sheer top or dress like Wednesday star Jenna Ortega and artist Rosalia, or, you can choose to not wear anything underneath like Irina Shayk.

Bringing back old school

Cowboy boots are a classic that has been meandering in and out of trends for years, and this season it is definitely trendy. Nothing is more comfortable yet fashionable while walking around a festival than boots. So if you are looking to amp up your outfit but at the same time want to hold on to comfort then cowboy boots are for you.

Put on your gloves

Gloves were a big hit this Coachella. With several performers like Diljit Dosanjh, and Blackpink’s Jennie wearing them. You can go the streetstyle route by rocking some racing gloves like Diljit or you can go the barbiecore aesthetic route and wear it colourful and bejewled like Jennie. Gloves are the best when it comes to creating that extra oof factor for your outfits.
