Trends to own from Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024

From sheer tops and cropped jackets, to ties and trench coats, and more, here's everything you need in your wardrobe.

The latest edition of Paris Fashion Week—Spring/Summer 2024—had several remarkable moments including Pharrell Williams’ highly anticipated debut for Louis Vuitton, Dior’s spectacular finale, Rick Owens’ vibrant show featuring colourful fireworks, and Ludovic de Saint Sernin closing the week with his collection after his surprising exit from Ann Demeulemeester. The shows were characterised by their grandeur and dramatic flair, and introduced a plethora of new trends and artistic elements to the world of fashion. 

Here’s a look at the top trends spotted at the Paris Fashion Week—Menswear Spring/Summer 2024. 

Trench Coats

Paris Fashion Week witnessed a significant surge in the popularity of trench coats. The outerwear made appearances in various styles—from signature designs and fur-accented options, to leather variations. 

 

Ties

Following the back-to-work trend, ties made a notable appearance in numerous collections and were styled in a myriad of ways. One of the most interesting and unconventional approach was combining ties with shorts and baseball caps. 

 

Stripes

Stripes are back on the runway! From elegant pinstripes to bold and vibrant stripes, the runway showcased the versatility and timeless appeal of the pattern. 

 

Extra Long Sleeves

A new standard for avant-garde style was set this season with extra-long sleeves. Designers showcased garments with exaggerated sleeves creating striking visuals that added a sense of drama to the collection. 

 

Boots

From Louis Vuitton’s ‘damouflage’ to the classic cowboys seen at Sankuanz, boots were the footwear of the season. Calf-length boots were paired with coats, jackets, and tailored suits. 


Denim

Denim made a triumphant return at the Paris Fashion Week. From classic jeans to denim jackets, designers embraced the fabric this season in every way possible. While some jeans were paired with denim jackets, others gave a look and feel of denim overalls. 


Coral Hues

Coral hues emerged as the dominant colour on the runway. This shade, which leaned towards orange rather than the usual cherry red, and was brighter than deep scarlet, captivated us with its lively and delightful impact, signalling towards the emergence of dopamine dressing in menswear.

 

Cropped Jackets

From Loewe to Ludovic De Saint Sernin, the cropped jacket was seen in full action at the fashion week. Its high hemline that accentuates the upper body and creates a modern silhouette, easily lends a youthful and edgy look to your OOTD.

 

Baggy Pants

Pants with elongated hemlines and touching the ground were a mainstay on the runway. Designers added their unique touches to these pants, for instance, Loewe's high-waisted embellishments and Rick Owens' sweeping designs.

 

Sheer Shirts

The sheer shirts on the menswear runway emerged as a bold and progressive fashion statement. This trend showcases the use of translucent fabrics and mesh materials in men's tops, adding an element of sensuality.

 

Utilitarian jacket

The utilitarian jacket emerged as a prominent trend on the runway, capturing the essence of functionality and rugged style. These jackets, inspired by military and workwear aesthetics, feature practical details like multiple pockets, adjustable straps, and sturdy fabrics. 

 

Power Shoulder

Shoulders were highlighted on the runway with its over-the-top boxy silhouette. Designers embraced bold and exaggerated shoulder designs, creating a striking visual impact, while pushing the boundaries of fashion and embracing a more avant-garde look.
