We're all so busy living the hustle life—juggling work deadlines, social commitments, familial responsibilities, and the list goes on—that we often forget what truly matters. The one constant we have is our hobby, our 'me time', our passion. In this case, it's our love for films, which are a poignant reminder of all the good things in life, inspiring us to seek more joy and meaning in everyday moments. Watching the characters grow and learn to seek happiness for themselves fills us with the hope that we, too, will, one day, find our happiness.

In celebration of World Happiness Week, here are five movies about finding happiness and joy.

Sister Act (1992)

After witnessing her boyfriend commit murder, Deloris Van Cartier (played by Whoopi Goldberg), a Las Vegas lounge singer, is placed in witness protection at a convent under the guise of Sister Mary Clarence. Initially grappling with the strict routines of the nuns, she eventually assumes leadership of the choir and helps restore the convent to its former glory. In the process, she discovers the true meaning of friendship. Whoopi Goldberg's portrayal showcases a remarkable evolution from a flashy lounge singer to a more compassionate and nurturing individual, making it an endearing watch.

Some movies make you weep, while some give you happy tears. The Pursuit of Happyness belongs to the latter category. Believe us, every scene will have you reaching for a box of tissues. The film follows the journey of Chris Gardner (portrayed by Will Smith), a struggling salesman in search of his true purpose amidst homelessness and the challenges of single parenthood. Despite facing obstacles, Gardner perseveres, driven by the belief that hard work will secure a better future for his son. As one would expect, Gardner’s unwavering faith and determination eventually pay off. You will love the genuine bond between Gardner and his son, mainly because the kid was played by Smith’s own son, Jaden.
