It was a dream debut for Suhana Khan who played the rich, spoilt teenager, Veronica Lodge, in the recently-released The Archies on Netflix, centring a group of teenagers in the 1960s. Along with nailing every move on the dance floor and witnessing her character embark on a personal and emotional journey, Khan had her 60s fashion game bang on point thanks to the pleated skirts, floral dresses, printed shirts, blouses, and dazzling make-up to go with it.

One shouldn’t be surprised to know that when it comes to Khan and the world of beauty, she’s already a step ahead of the game. The star kid’s very first brand endorsement was none other than Maybelline that launched the Maybelline x The Archies Limited Edition Collection.

Having brought style, sass, and sophistication to her character, Khan, in an exclusive interview with Bazaar India, talks about her first and fondest memory of make-up, how her personal style has evolved, her make-up routine, and more.

Harper’s Bazaar: What parts of your personality do you think resonate with Maybelline?

Suhana Khan: Maybelline's commitment to self-expression and embracing individuality resonates deeply with me. I believe in being authentic to myself.

HB: What’s your first and fondest memory of make-up?

SK: My first memory of make-up takes me back to watching my mother get ready for special occasions. Seeing her transform with a touch of lipstick or a sweep of eyeshadow fascinated me. It was then that I realised the power of make-up, making those moments memorable.

HB: How would you describe your personal style and how has it evolved?

SK: My personal style is basic but ever-evolving. I enjoy experimenting with different looks. Over the years, I've become more confident in expressing myself through fashion.

HB: Let’s talk a little about beauty. What beauty trends from the 60s would you like to see make a comeback?

SK: I liked the bold and experimental looks from the 60s, especially the vibrant eyeshadows and graphic eyeliners. The freedom of expression in that era was incredible, and I'd love to see more of those playful trends make a comeback. It's all about having fun with makeup!

HB: What is your go-to make-up routine on days you aren’t shooting?

SK: On my off-duty days, I opt for a natural and minimal make-up look. A touch of concealer, mascara, and nude lip are my go-to.

HB: What do you love the most about this limited edition Maybelline X Archie’s collection?

SK: The Maybelline X The Archie’s collection perfectly captures the essence of both brands—fun, vibrant, and youthful. I love how the collection allows make-up enthusiasts to experiment with playful colours and express their style. The collaboration brings together the best of both worlds, making it a must-have for anyone looking to add a touch of nostalgia and modern flair to their make-up routine. My personal favourites are the iconic Colossal Mascara and the Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick.
