The best in the beauty business share the treatments, professionals and products they rely on to prepare for a chic celebration.
Alex Eagle, creative director and entrepreneur
Where to go Eagle has regular facials at Skin Design London, which uses non-invasive techniques such as radiofrequency to tighten and laser to resurface. She books in at Josh Wood for hair colour treatments and favours manicures at Still London, known for its vegan, non-toxic gels and creative nail art.
Who to see Eagle is a devotee of the physiotherapist Renata Nunes, who combines traditional methods with Chinese medicine for, in Eagle’s words, ‘the best mix of acupuncture and massage to treat the mind, body and soul’.
This season, she’ll be... Making the most of the fresh mint she picked from her garden in the summer and put in the freezer. ‘I use it to make tea through the winter, as it helps boost hydration naturally,’ she says.
Karen Cummings-Parker, founder of 79 Lux
Where to go: The day before a big event, Cummings-Parker heads to the Como Shambhala spa at the Como Metropolitan London hotel for facial acupuncture to improve skin texture and blood flow.
This season, she’ll be... Investing in at-home treatments. ‘On the day of a party, I’ll use an Oliviere Wilson LED mask for instant glow and follow it up with a Ziip electrical nanocurrent device, which has a lifting and sculpting effect on the face,’ she says. For a finishing touch, she applies 79 Lux Golden Oil to firm the skin and add radiance.
Rejina Pyo, fashion designer
Where to go ‘If I haven’t had my hair done in Seoul, I go to Haco hair salon in east London,’ Pyo tells us. ‘Teiji (the founder) and his team are so thoughtful and professional, and I never say no to a Japanese head massage.’ For skin, she recommends the Sunday Riley Facial Ice treatment, available at Hershesons.
This season, she’ll be... Adding Monastery’s Attar oil to her skincare regime (‘I love the glow it gives’), for extra moisture and protection throughout the winter, and trying out her newly discovered favourite Haeckels, a Margate-based natural beauty brand whose packaging is entirely compostable or refillable.
Candice Lake, photographer and editor
Where to go Lake has recently become a member of Lanserhof at the Arts Club in Mayfair—the London outpost of the German health clinic—where she says she ‘had an entire body assessment with comprehensive testing’, based on which the team devised a bespoke training and lifestyle plan. When in need of relaxation, she heads out of London to Beaverbrook hotel, whose Coach House Spa is a sanctuary of calm in the Surrey Hills.
Who to see After suffering from post-Covid hair loss, Lake has been a regular at Hershesons in Belgravia, seeing James for colour and Ryan for styling. For facials, she sees Dr Barbara Sturm at her Mayfair spa.
This season, she’ll be... Trying out body make-up. ‘I recently discovered the S19 range on a shoot with the make-up artist Terri Capon,’ she says. ‘It gave me an instant fake tan that didn’t rub off on my clothes and could be washed away that evening.’
Trinny Woodall, founder of Trinny London
Who to see Dr Sebagh is the only practitioner Woodall trusts for cosmetic procedures. ‘He’s very careful with how he uses botox, and he does it really well—I wouldn’t ever go to anyone else,’ she says.
This season, she’ll be... Exfoliating regularly with acid-based products: a PHA for daily use and a stronger AHA three times a week. ‘Remember how, 20 years ago, leopard print in a woman’s wardrobe was seen as seasonal, but is now an essential? I think the same about acid in skincare,’ Woodall says. She recommends finding the type (and strength) that works for you; her own brand makes three options to suit everyone from novices to beauty veterans.
Wendy Rowe, make-up artist, wellness expert and author
Where to go If ever she feels a twinge in her back, Rowe heads straight to the Joshi clinic in Marylebone. ‘Dr Joshi does cupping and acupuncture as part of his chiropractic treatment—he’s brilliant and sorts me out after just one appointment,’ she says. For tightening and toning, she likes Shane Cooper’s Bespoke Body Treatment, which aids fat reduction through lymphatic drainage and boosts collagen with radiofrequency.
Who to see Based at Sarah Chapman’s Skinesis Clinic (where Rowe also books in for regular facials), the dermatologist, Dr Alexis Granite is an expert at diagnosing and treating even the most complex skin problems. ‘She often has long waiting lists, but is definitely worth the wait,’ says Rowe.
This season, she’ll be... Adapting her fragrance for winter. ‘In summer, I love citrus-based scents, but now I’m switching to warmer, woody, amber notes,’ she says.
Maye Musk, model and Dior beauty ambassador
Where to go Musk has a full body check-up each year and makes an annual dermatologist appointment to keep her skin in the best of health. ‘When I’m in Paris, I love getting the Dior Prestige Facial at the Cheval Blanc Spa,’ she says.
This season she’ll be... Experimenting with her make-up. ‘You can appear dated if you rely on styles from past seasons, so I make changes all the time,’ she says. ‘I remember how, in the '60s, I went from doing Twiggy-style make-up, which I loved, to a very natural look.’ This winter, she’ll be wearing Dior’s new Rouge Dior Forever Lipstick. ‘The texture is incredible—just wait 20 seconds for it to dry, and it lasts all day.’
Gucci Westman, make-up artist and founder of Westman Atelier
Where to go Westman advocates the skin-tightening treatment Morpheus 8, available in select London clinics, for a collagen boost that mirrors the effect of a facelift. ‘It’s a microneedling radiofrequency device that heats up the skin to tone from the inside out—you see such great results,’ she says.
Who to see Whenever Westman is in London, she books an appointment with Anastasia Achilleos for her signature facial, which combines lymphatic draining, lifting, sculpting and craniosacral release to remove puffiness and signs of fatigue.
This season, she’ll be... Switching to thicker creams and cosseting oils, because winter is a time for indulgence—as she puts it, ‘richer food and richer skincare’.
