How to create the trending guava-girl glow for the perfect tropical vacay vibe

Dewy skin, juicy tones, and sun-kissed warmth—here’s how to get the guava-girl glow for your next tropical escape.

Harper's Bazaar India

This season, beauty is taking a detour from minimalist neutrals to something altogether juicier. Enter: the guava-girl glow. Inspired by the warm, lush tones of the tropical fruit, this trend blends radiant skin with sun-kissed colour, creating a fresh, vacation-ready aesthetic that feels both effortless and intentional.

At its core, the guava-girl glow is about hydration and harmony—skin that gleams without glitter, cheeks flushed with coral and rose, and lips that look just-bitten and glossy. The result? A luminous and distinctly seasonal look. Here’s how to recreate it in five steps.

Step 1: Create a Hydrated Canvas

Exceptional skin prep is key. Start with a gentle, non-stripping cleanser, followed by a hydrating toner or essence to boost moisture and suppleness. A vitamin C serum will add brightness and even out skin tone, setting the stage for a seamless finish.

Use a lightweight yet replenishing moisturiser (a gel-cream formula works best) that absorbs without residue. Finally, apply SPF with a dewy finish and skin-loving ingredients like niacinamide or hyaluronic acid to protect, while enhancing your glow.

Step 2: Opt for a Sheer, Radiant Base

Skip full coverage in favour of transparency. A skin tint or tinted moisturiser with a luminous finish will even out your complexion while letting your natural skin texture shine through. Blend using your fingers or a damp sponge for a true second-skin effect.

Dab a creamy concealer only where needed—under the eyes or around the nose—and use powder sparingly, just enough to prevent excess shine while maintaining your glow.

Step 3: Layer in Warm, Juicy Colour

Blush is central to this look. Choose a cream or liquid formula in a guava-inspired shade—warm rose, ripe peach, or coral pink. Apply generously on the apples of your cheeks, blending upwards toward the temples for a lifted effect, and tap a little across the bridge of your nose for a sun-kissed flush.

For cohesion, press the same tint across your eyelids for a soft, tonal wash. The aim isn’t precision but a seamless, diffused colour that looks like you’ve just returned from a tropical escape.

Step 4: Illuminate with Intention

Highlight strategically, choosing a cream or balm texture that adds sheen, not sparkle. Apply to the high points of your face—cheekbones, brow bones, the bridge of your nose, and cupid’s bow.

For added radiance, mix a drop of liquid illuminator into your base product. The glow should be subtle and refined, catching the light naturally rather than appearing overtly shimmery.

Step 5: Finish with Glossed, Fruit-Tinted Lips

Think balmy, glazed, and barely-there for your lips. Opt for a guava or coral-toned lip oil, tint, or sheer balm that delivers both colour and sheen without overpowering your look. Dab it on and press with your fingers to blur the edges, keeping the finish soft and fresh.

The result is a look that feels as breezy as it does polished—a modern take on holiday skin that lets your glow speak for itself, wherever your summer takes you.
