Harper's Bazaar India

As our attention spans shrink, screen time grows, and burnout becomes a shared crisis, India’s wellness renaissance is encouraging a generation to log off, slow down, and tune in—from yogic traditions, ancient healing systems to mindful living, these wellness centres are weaving well-being into everyday life.

Six Sense Vana, Dehradun

Founded by Veer Singh in 2014, here ancient wisdom traditions and contemporary well-being practices exist in conversation with one another. Their phone-free and photography-free spaces create an opportunity for guests to step away from the pressure to document, respond, and remain continually connected, offering a breather from all those doomscrolling sessions. The retreat’s philosophy is rooted in creating greater coherence rather than simply adding more wellness offerings. The space recognises that “every guest arrives with a unique story, and their well-being journey should reflect that individuality,” says Dr Arun Pillai, Wellness Director at Six Senses Vana. This integrated approach has found growing resonance among Indian consumers who are increasingly seeking more than rest and looking for “insight, prevention, and practical ways to support long-term wellbeing,” shares Dr Pillai. The retreat addresses a distinctly modern challenge: digital fatigue. Surrounded by forest and designed to encourage presence and reflection, Vana offers an environment where guests can “slow down, listen more closely, and reconnect with themselves and the world around them,” adds Dr Pillai.

Services offered: Sleep programme, detox programme, yoga programme, Tibetan healing programme, and more.

Lifeyoga, New Delhi

“People are not necessarily looking for more stimulation. They are looking for space,” says Lifeyoga Co-founder Dr Tanu Singh, perfectly summarising this haven for mindful living. Nestled amidst an array of peepul trees in New Delhi’s Malcha Marg, Lifeyoga offers respite from the relentless pace of urban living. The centre is designed as more than just a yoga studio. With its softly lit interiors, tranquil atmosphere, and thoughtfully curated wellness offerings, Lifeyoga extends an invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect with oneself. Co-founder Dr Varun Veer rightly notes, “There is a growing understanding that health is not only about how we look, but also about how we think, feel, rest, relate to others, and move through life.”

Services offered: Hatha Classic, Vinyasa, Ashtanga-inspired classes, warm flow, aerial yoga, meditation, pranayama, wall rope yoga, power yoga, sculpt, hot yoga, sound bath experiences, among others.

Dhun Wellness, Mumbai

Mira Kapoor’s Dhun Wellness is an earthy, dimly lit sanctuary designed to promote long-term well-being. Located at the heart of Bandra, Mumbai, it is a space where traditional healing practices meet evidence-based longevity therapies and reflects a growing shift in how Indians are approaching wellness. “[It is] No longer a luxury; it is becoming a necessity,” says Kapoor. For the founder, wellness extends beyond healing and self-care, instead it’s more about sustainability and quality of life. “It is not simply about adding years to life, but about adding quality to those years,” she explains. This philosophy lies at the heart of Dhun Wellness. “Our vision is to create India’s first integrated luxury urban wellness ecosystem that makes preventive health, recovery, and longevity accessible within the rhythm of everyday city life,” says Kapoor. The result is a space that encourages guests to view wellness not as an occasional escape, but as an integral part of everyday life.

Services offered: Energy realignment, Thalapothichil, Netradhara, Tulya, Vibrato, Regenerative facials, and more.

Norbu The Montanna, Dharamshala

Positioned at the intersection of Ayurvedic knowledge, Tibetan healing, and Himalayan wisdom, Norbu The Montanna represents what the future of Indian wellness could look like: personalised, rooted, and profoundly transformational. Designed as a complete nervous system reset retreat, it approaches well-being from the inside out. “At Norbu The Montanna, wellness is understood at its most fundamental level: the nervous system. Without that foundation, no amount of massage, meditation, or biohacking will create lasting change,” says Raisa Garg, Founder. Rather than focusing solely on relaxation, Norbu’s approach addresses the deeper emotional and physiological burdens many carry. “We help you release what your body has been holding—the accumulated grief, chronic tension, suppressed creativity, and exhaustion beneath exhaustion,” explains Garg. Drawing on AyurYog and Tibetan healing traditions, the retreat views nervous system regulation as the gateway to broader well-being, supporting everything from sleep and digestion to resilience and emotional balance. As they put it, “You don’t leave Norbu, just calm and quiet. You leave alive and thriving.”

Services offered: Personalised wellness packages, Tibetan doctor consultation, sleep programme, couples retreat, glow & vitality programme, Shirodhara, yoga sessions, and more.

Tulåh Clinical Wellness, Kerala

This fledgling wellness destination in Kerala seeks to bridge ancient wisdom and modern science, combining Ayurveda, Yoga, Vedanta, Tibetan Medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine with advanced diagnostics and regenerative medicine. Central to Tulåh’s approach is the idea that wellbeing is most effective when viewed as a whole, and it is designed to move beyond symptom management. Co-founder Faizal E Kottikollon believes that India has long fostered a strong sense of community, where healing, learning, and growth were never individual pursuits but shared experiences. “That is part of what Tulåh is building,” he says. “Not just a place for healing, but a global community of like-minded individuals and leaders seeking a new blueprint for wellbeing, connection, and how to live more intentionally.” Tulåh aims to empower individuals with a personalised road map to better health, helping them understand their bodies, make informed choices, and cultivate lasting well-being.

Services offered: Clinical yoga, Panchakarma, The Sonorium, and more.
