“Every day I’m thinking about change,” the Italian fashion designer, Miucca Prada once said. The words hold true for every collection, catalogue, and catwalk they create or are a part of. Since its inception over a hundred years ago, the brand has always strayed away from the path of convention to offer the world’s most desirable fashion pieces. And it continues to do so. The brand has now added fine jewellery to its expanding world of clothes, shoes, glasses and more. Titled ‘Eternal Gold,’ the inaugural collection promises both beauty and sustainability in fashion.
The fine jewellery collection is made out of 100% recycled gold, certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council, an organisation setting the most rigorous standards for the global jewellery and watch industries.
Prada’s commitment to sustainability and ethical operations is furthered by the company’s decision to expand on the process of traceability of its Eternal Gold range, to ensure every single carat of gold and diamonds used are traceable right down to its origins.
The collection draws on Prada’s heritage of style to create truly timeless pieces to be adorned. These include the Eternal Gold choker with a large yellow gold pendant, the large pendant necklace and classic earrings, which boast of the trademark Prada triangle in all its glory. The symbol also makes its way onto the hoop earrings crafted to incorporate the signature shape plus the chain links and head and tail of the multi-coil bracelet. Our favourite, however, is the heart pendant necklace which is an absolute head-turner with the large pendant and triangles imbued subtly in the chain links. Paired with the heart-shaped ring in yellow gold, you’ve definitely got the look.
Wearing this collection are three voices of power: Maya Hawkes who dons many hats including those of a model, actor and songwriter most famously known for a role in the Netflix series Stranger Things; Amanda Gorman, American poet who was invited to recite her poem ‘’The Hill We Climb” during President Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony; and Jeon Somi, a Korean-Dutch pop-singer and dancer. As part of the campaign, the three women have been immortalised in gold negative renderings, the brainchild of British fashion photographer David Sims. The campaign is a reflection of where the brand stands today and its vision for a better tomorrow for fashion, beauty, people, and the planet.
