Makeup trends that are dominating the party season

From kohl-rimmed eyes to 'Euphoria'-inspired looks, there is something for everyone.

Harper's Bazaar India

Do you remember the days when kohl-rimmed eyes and bold lips meant being the coolest kid in school? Simpler times, weren’t they? Sure, beauty trends have come a long way since then. We’ve gotten more creative. However, what if we told you that most of the Y2K trends had found their way back into our lives this season? With more contemporary twists, of course. From heavily-lined waterlines and facial gems, to pops of unexpected colours and graphic eyeliners, this season's biggest beauty trends have something to fit everyone’s vibe.

Whether you’re a makeup rookie or a beauty influencer, scroll down for all the inspo you will need.

Glitter, glitter, glitter

You can’t go wrong with a little sparkle. Whether it’s in the corner of your eye or on your cheekbone, this season is a glitter fest.

Graphic eyeliner

One of the easiest ways to drive up the drama factor on any outfit, we’re thankful for the graphic eyeliner trend. If you’re wondering whether you’ll be able to pull off this trend when you can’t even get your wings to match, don’t fret. Just play with colours and shapes. From small triangles to a wiggly line, anything will do the job.

Thin, sculpted eyebrows

'90s trends are finding their way back into our daily beauty routines and we’re all for it. Especially the thin, barely there, arched eyebrows. If you want to go a step further and bleach your brows, that’s totally in season, too.

Euphoria makeup

It’s going to be a while before we’re over the beauty looks that Euphoria churned out. Every character, especially Jules, gave us more makeup goals than we can keep track of. To achieve a Euphoria-inspired look you need three thingsa statement colour around your eyes, a graphic eyeliner, and glowy skin. We suggest keeping a Q-tip handy because unless you’re a beauty guru you can bet there will be some clean-up needed. But ahead of perseverance lies victory.

Statement blush

Whoever says prominently showing blush means you’re wearing too much or that you haven’t blended it correctly is wrong. As the ‘sunburnt blush’ trend takes over TikTok, pink-hued cheeks are everywhere we look. If you’re still apprehensive about this over-blush trend, opt for a cream blush over a powder one so you can control the product better.

Return of the waterline

If heavily lining your waterline doesn’t take you back to your Tumblr and Avril Lavigne phase, you’ve lived through the early 2000s all wrong. Luckily, you can change that this season as kohl-rimmed eyes take a front seat once more.

Bejewelled moments

Another Y2K trend that’s been resurrected, facial gems are enjoying their moment in the sun, and on runways.

Grunge

Channelling Jenny Humphry from Gossip Girl season 3, the grunge look has been overdue for a long time. Just remember, if you choose to carry this exaggerated smokey-eyed look, keep your lip and cheek as neutral as possible.

Scarlet lips

The ‘bold lip’ is an evergreen trend. However, the way you carry your bold lip keeps changing. This season it’s all about glossy, scarlet lips. And no, it’s not only for when you’re out painting the town red. This versatile lip look will fit the memo for all occasionsfrom brunches to Zoom calls.

The fresh look

When in doubt, keep it simple. One of the looks that we see most often on celebrities and models strutting down runways is the clean, fresh makeup look. You can achieve this by focusing on your skincare and embracing the minimalistic makeup look.
