Forever chapped lips? Have you tried lipcerins yet?

Say goodbye to dry, cracked lips with this new K-beauty hybrid that helps hydrate, nourish, and plump, all in one swipe.

Harper's Bazaar India

While everyone’s making the shift from drying matte lipsticks to hydrating lip balms, there’s another micro category that’s slowly emerging in the lip care space—lipcerins. Quickly gaining popularity in the Korean beauty world, this lip care innovation essentially combines the benefits of a lip mask and a lip balm, offering intensive hydration and nourishment. Formulated with ingredients like glycerin, propolis, honey, peptides, and other moisturising agents to tackle dry, flaky lips and hydrate, nourish, and plump lips, lipcerins could be the answer to your perennially chapped lips. In fact, the name comes from combining the words ‘lip’ and ‘glycerin’, which is a hero ingredient in this product.

Lip Balms Vs Lipcerins

Now, we’re not saying you should ditch your trusted lip balms! The fact is that lip balms are usually thinner and more lightweight in consistency as compared to lipcerins, and are better for quick, on-the-go application, especially in dry and cold climates. Lipcerins, on the other hand, are more beneficial as treatment lip care products as they combine skincare benefits with protection. These mostly come in twist-up bottles that dispense the product for use and are usually thicker, heavier textures that work better as lip masks, exfoliators, and even lip plumpers. Some formulations even work to target mature lips, helping target lip lines and wrinkles.

Ways to use lipcerins

Swipe it on for that extra dose of hydration in the day, remembering to use a thin layer so it’s not excessively tacky on the lips. You can also use it under your lipstick as lip prep—just apply it 10 minutes before and dab off the excess before lipstick application. It even works well as an overnight occlusive lip mask, locking in moisture as you sleep so you wake up to plump, nourished lips.

Why Lipcerins are going to be everywhere

Skincare first
It’s not only about beauty today, but getting to the root of a problem and treating it; and that’s where lipcerins make a difference by actually treating dry, flaky lips rather than just covering them up.

Skinimalism FTW
If a product can do more than one or two things, sign us up! Who doesn’t love a good multifunctional product? Lipcerins can act as a lip mask, balm, gloss, plumper and exfoliator!

‘Clean Girl’ aesthetic continues
It still is all about minimal makeup, glowy, dewy skin, and healthy-looking, nourished lips. Lipcerins fit in perfectly, giving you that plump, hydrated lip look, with near-zero effort.
