Think layering, chunky footwear, goth, corset, statement bags and a no holds barred approach to stepping out.

Even though the mood at London Fashion Week Spring Summer 2023 was somber in the wake of the Queen's death, with major brands like Burberry rescheduling its show for September 26, and Belgian designer Raf Simons being one of the first to cancel his show, in true 'the show must go on' narrative, on the runway and off it, noteworthy looks and trends were served. Harris Reed, who was recently named the creative director for Nina Ricci was the first to announce that he would go ahead with his show. Simone Rocha on the other hand presented her first ever menswear collection, while Turkish-British designer, Bora Aksu showcased a collection of vampirish Victorian inspired looks on a silent catwalk which ended up going viral. The Indian influence came in the form of Harri, the 28-year-old Indian designer behind the viral balloon pants who presented his debut collection, Helen Anthony collaborating with Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, and Chicago-based Indian designer, presenting his collection called 'Lilibet' in honour of Queen Elizabeth.

Trends to bag from the runway for SS23—ruffles and ruches thanks to Halpern, Molly Godard and Masha Papova, statement socks courtesy Yuhan Wang and Chapova Lowena, undone layers (seen on collections by Susan Fang, Rejina Pyo, Erdem and Eftychia) and Y2K metallics by AGR, Helen Anthony, Simone Rocha, David Koma, and Poster Girl. Off the runway, the creative and quirky fashion capital of the world didn't disappoint with an array of autumn-winter looks owing to the sudden drop in temperature. From layering, corsets, chunky footwear, goth black, barbiecore and shades of green and red, to statement bags, here are all the street style looks, exclusively for you, straight from the London Fashion Week, that have had us hooked, booked and locked in.
