Saint Laurent is the latest luxury fashion house to head into the world of fine jewellery. The French label has this week announced the launch of Saint Laurent Haute Joaillerie, a collection of fine jewellery, marking a first for the house.

Although the brand has always sold accessories, this is the first devoted fine jewellery collection–and it features rings, earrings, cuffs and necklaces crafted in yellow gold, white gold and diamonds, many of which nod to Saint Laurent's key motifs. This includes rings and necklaces with the famous YSL logo and pieces with oversized chains and links, the Maillon.

Designed by creative director Anthony Vaccarello and described by the brand as "functional, collectible pieces", these are made to be timeless. "They are at once novel and suited for endless future use regardless of seasons and trends."

The campaign, which was shot by Juergen Teller, pairs the chunky bangles with sleek jersey evening gowns, and stacks many of the pieces, proving that more is more when it comes to this striking collection.

Saint Laurent is not the first luxury fashion house to enter the fine jewellery market. Prada, Gucci and Balmain have all also launched fine jewellery in recent seasons, while the likes of Dior and Chanel have long produced their own, much of which has been a big fixture on the red carpet, which will no doubt also be the case with these Saint Laurent pieces.

The collection is available to shop online and in selected Saint Laurent stores, with prices ranging from around £800 for a single earring and up to £40,000 for chunky bracelets and cuffs.

This piece originally appeared in Harper's Bazaar UK.
