Dua Lipa is officially Matthieu Blazy’s first Chanel bride
Everyone's style icon's custom haute couture wedding gown marks a defining moment for both Chanel and Matthieu Blazy’s vision for the house.

When it comes to celebrity weddings, few moments generate as much anticipation as the dress. For her wedding celebration with SO, actor Callum Turner, Dua Lipa delivered not one but several standout fashion moments across a multi-day celebration in Sicily. Yet it was her custom Chanel Haute Couture wedding gown, designed by Matthieu Blazy, that is living rent-free in everyone’s heads.
Months after speculation surrounding the couple's engagement, Lipa and Turner officially married in a private civil ceremony in London before hosting an intimate yet lavish wedding weekend in Sicily. Throughout the celebrations, the singer embraced a carefully curated bridal wardrobe, from a Schiaparelli couture skirt suit worn for the London ceremony to a custom leather Bottega Veneta dress for the welcome dinner and a romantic Chloé lace look for a post-wedding brunch. But the undisputed centrepiece was the Chanel creation reserved for the main event.
The gown marked a significant milestone for the French maison, becoming the first Chanel Haute Couture bridal look designed by Matthieu Blazy for a friend of the house. While Blazy's arrival at Chanel has been one of fashion's most closely watched transitions, this wedding dress offered an early glimpse into his couture sensibility: refined, romantic, and deeply rooted in style, elegance, and precision.
Designed with an elegant backless silhouette, the gown featured intricate crystal and jewel-inspired embroidery that shimmered subtly across the fabric. A sweeping train scattered with delicate feathers created the movement and drama, while a feather-adorned headpiece and embroidered veil completed the look. The gown was bridal dressing at its most modern, opulent, tasteful, and glamorous.
As with all great couture, the devil was in the details. The dress was brought to life by Chanel's celebrated ateliers at 31 Rue Cambon and required extraordinary levels of handwork. According to the house, Atelier Montex embroidered approximately 480,000 beads across the gown, while Lesage spent more than 1,100 hours creating intricate trompe l'oeil jewel embroidery. The two-metre train was finished with 25,000 individually applied feathers by Lemarié, underscoring the remarkable craftsmanship behind the final creation.
The significance of the moment extends beyond the wedding itself. Chanel brides have long represented defining moments in fashion history, and becoming the first bride of a new creative era carries its own symbolism. In choosing Dua Lipa for this milestone, Chanel aligned itself with one of the most influential style figures of her generation, someone whose approach to fashion feels simultaneously contemporary, confident, and so aspirational.
For a wedding weekend filled with memorable looks, it was this Chanel Haute Couture creation that ultimately stood apart: a celebration of craftsmanship, modern romance, and the beginning of a new chapter for both Matthieu Blazy and Chanel.
