The 2025 Met Gala’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrated the legacy of Black dandyism, with many attendees putting their own spin on it. But Diljit Dosanjh truly made a statement by bringing his Punjabi heritage to the spotlight. His look was inspired by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, renowned for his grand style and iconic jewellery. If you remember Emma Chamberlain’s 2023 Met Gala look, she wore a necklace that originally belonged to Bhupinder Singh. This time, it was Dosanjh who carried forward the fashion-forward legacy of the Maharaja like never before.

Collaborating with designer Prabal Gurung, the singer wore a custom ivory ensemble. The outfit featured intricate gold thread embroidery, a floor-length cape with floral motifs, and symbolic shoulder embellishments. While his debut look is definitely the talk of the town, it would be remiss to skip talking about the stunning jewellery he wore.

So, here’s a breakdown:

Dosanjh’s look at the 2025 Met Gala was elevated by jewellery from Cartier, including the iconic Patiala necklace by Golecha’s Jewels. Inspired by the Maharaja's legendary taste, this piece featured layers of emeralds, pearls, antique brooches, and a striking turban ornament.

From Cartier’s latest collection, he wore the Nature Sauvage Tigre bracelet with a bold tiger design and emerald eyes. Carrying a ceremonial sword, a symbol of Sikh strength and pride, Dosanjh paired it with the Panthère watch in rose gold and the stunning Panthère de Cartier ring, made of 18k rose gold, emeralds, onyx, and diamonds.

Dosanjh's look nailed the assignment, bringing together his roots and the Met Gala theme in one standout debut. It’s rare to see a look with such finesse, but when it comes to Dosanjh, we know he always delivers. His style, while always rooted in his culture, remains bold enough to make a statement. And that’s exactly what makes him so remarkable. He doesn’t just show up at the Met Gala with an outfit. He brings his identity, his culture, and his legacy along for the ride.
