This isn't the first time an outfit worn by Katie Holmes has had everyone talking–we remind you of her viral Khaite cashmere bra and cardigan combination or her recent head-to-toe leather look – but her latest Noughties-inspired ensemble has everyone divided.

The actress, who was appearing on-stage at iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball in New York, dressed in a navy strapless Tove mini-dress over denim jeans, paired with black New Balance trainers. The Y2k aesthetic is at the forefront of the Gen Z fashion scene right now, and it appears that it has infiltrated the A-List celebrity world, too.

Holmes' look is certainly an unexpected choice for a red-carpet event in 2022. It echoes a similar style worn by many famous faces back in the early 2000s–one which many would be hoping didn't make a comeback.

It's not the first time this year that Holmes has been spotted bringing Noughties fashion back to the red carpet. At a screening of As They Made Us back in the spring, the actress accessorised her ensemble with a thin scarf that wouldn't look out of place in the early 2000s.

Other famous faces like Bella and Gigi Hadid have also opted for Y2k looks recently, with Bella causing spikes in Ugg boot sales after she wore the divisive shoes back in September.

Unsurprisingly, Holmes' look had many talking on Twitter.

"Katie Holmes single-handedly trying to bring back the mid-2000s Disney red carpet aesthetic," one user wrote.

Another wrote: "Katie Holmes woke up and decided it was 2002."

"If Bella Hadid wore this you guys would be singing a different tune I’ll tell you that much," stated another Twitter user.
