Oscars 2026 full list of winners: 'One Battle After Another' wins Best Film, Michael B Jordan bags Best Actor award for 'Sinners'
'One Battle After Another' won the highest of six awards at the 98th Academy Awards, while 'Sinners' won four awards out of the 16 nominations

Hollywood’s most glamorous night returned with the 98th Academy Awards, bringing together the industry’s biggest stars, filmmakers, and storytellers to celebrate the best films of 2025. Held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, the ceremony honoured achievements across 24 categories, spotlighting the performances and creative talent that defined the past year in cinema.
Going by the nominations, films like One Battle After Another, Sinners, Hamnet, Frankenstein and KPop Demon Hunters were expected to shine, with Sinners topping the nominations thanks to 16 nods. But when the winners were announced, it was One Battle After Another that emerged as the night’s big winner, as it was declared the Best Film, alongside awards for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for Paul Thomas Anderson, his first Academy Award wins in those categories.
The acting categories delivered memorable moments as well: Michael B Jordan made history with his first Best Actor win for Sinners, becoming one of the few actors of colour to win in this category, while Jessie Buckley was crowned Best Actress for her moving performance in Hamnet. Supporting honours went to Sean Penn (One Battle After Another) and Amy Madigan (Weapons), and while the former skipped the event altogether, the latter gave an emotional acceptance speech as her 40-year-long wait for an Oscar finally came to an end.
Beyond the mainstream categories, the Academy recognised a wide range of achievements in the technical fields. KPop Demon Hunters took home Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, while Frankenstein stood out in costume, design and makeup categories.
