India just got its first fashion café in Mumbai—here’s what to expect
Craft, conversation, and carefully plated comfort come together under one very stylish roof.

Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda has long been a crossroads for art, culture, and design, and with the arrival of The Chorus Café, it now adds fashion-forward dining to its repertoire. Opened in early November 2025 within the Chorus flagship store, the café marks the evolution of the brand from its earlier Moonray identity into a fully realised multidisciplinary universe. More than just a place to eat, The Chorus Café feels like an extension of the atelier itself, where craft, creativity, and contemplation are invited to sit at the same table.
Where fashion extends to the table
Spread across three levels, the Chorus flagship is designed as a fluid journey rather than a conventional retail space. The ground floor introduces ready-to-wear, handcrafted textiles, ceramics, glassware, and wellness offerings, while the upper level houses the couture arm, Chorus Edition, alongside the café. This seamless integration makes dining here feel less like a pit stop and more like part of the Chorus experience. The café operates as a contemporary commons, a space where conversations unfold naturally, whether between friends, artists, or first-time visitors drawn in by curiosity.
A menu inspired by craft
At The Chorus Café, food mirrors the visual language of textiles and making. Plates arrive thoughtfully restrained, styled with a sense of calm minimalism that allows ingredients and ideas to shine. The Chorus Quilt is a standout, an artful arrangement of house-made dips served with warm pull-apart brioche, finished with onion-peel ash as a quiet nod to zero-waste thinking. It reads like a patchwork of flavours, each component distinct yet harmonious.
The Lace and Leaf salad weaves together avocado, snow peas, and charred cabbage, topped with a crisp that resembles delicate lacework. The Fazzoletti, named after the Italian word for handkerchief, features a single sheet of pasta draped gently over seasonal vegetables and burrata, dressed with pesto on one side and tomato on the other. Elsewhere, embered pumpkin with almond dukkah, tamarind sorbet served as a palate-awakening prelude, and playful touches like chocolate buttons reinforce the café’s balance of comfort and creativity. Entirely vegetarian, with vegan and gluten-free adaptations, the menu celebrates seasonality without ever feeling austere.
Designed to be looked at and looked around in
The visual experience extends well beyond the plate. The café is anchored by a monumental textile artwork created by the Chorus Collective, its surface alive with embroidery techniques ranging from tufting to zardozi, including Chanakya-inspired craftsmanship. Hidden within the composition are subtle motifs of hands, quiet tributes to the many makers behind the brand. Nearby, another installation in wood and cotton thread explores the gestures of construction, evoking the rhythm of cutting, draping, and assembling cloth in an atelier.
Even the tableware feels intentional, with porcelain, glass, ceramic, and bamboo surfaces chosen to echo the tools and textures of a craft studio. A small reading room stocked with books on design, art, and architecture invites diners to linger, reinforcing the café’s role as a space for reflection as much as refreshment.
Rituals, reimagined
One of the café’s most thoughtful offerings is the Chorus High Tea, a reworking of the classic afternoon ritual. Designed for sharing, it unfolds as a sequence of delicate compositions, from chèvre paired with fruit pâte and picnic-style sandwiches layered with cashew cheese, to Valencia orange cheesecake and dark chocolate pistachio cannoli. Paired with tea or coffee, it encourages unhurried hours and conversation that stretches beyond the table.
Beyond daily service, The Chorus Café plans to host craft-led programmes that bring artists, artisans, chefs, and guests together for hands-on experiences, from embroidery and ceramics to botanical dyeing and weaving, further reinforcing its commitment to process and community.
The Chorus Café is not trying to be just another stylish address in the city. Instead, it positions itself as a living extension of the Chorus philosophy, where food becomes a medium for storytelling and hospitality is treated as a cultural gesture. Whether you arrive for a quiet coffee, a thoughtfully plated lunch, or a lingering high tea, the experience nourishes more than just appetite. In a city that thrives on energy and movement, The Chorus Café offers something rarer, a pause, beautifully designed.
