For designer Anavila Misra, the idea of home begins in Hashupur, Uttar Pradesh, her childhood village, where potato and sugarcane fields, neem trees, morning tea, and a large courtyard shaped her earliest memories. These familiar sights and everyday rituals continue to influence her creative world, finding their way into the textiles and objects she designs. With Anavila Home, the designer turns her attention to the spaces we live in, drawing from the landscapes, textures, and emotions that have stayed with her over the years.

The first collection of Anavila Home explores what the concept of home means to her, bringing together the intimacy of a familiar space and the freedom of an open landscape. The aangan, a traditional courtyard where family life and nature come together, is central to this idea. The collection translates these memories into soft furnishings and home accessories, extending the brand's interest in natural materials and traditional craftsmanship into a new space.

The first Anavila Home collection takes its colour palette from the landscape of Hashupur, with shades of off-white, sand, and bark brown. Running stitches, quilting, raw edges, and motifs inspired by the surrounding wilderness add character to the pieces. Linen, kala cotton, khadi, cotton, and velvet form the foundation of the collection, with embroidery, appliqué, and block printing bringing texture to the fabrics.

For Misra, these details are closely tied to the memories of growing up in a village where the natural world was an everyday part of life. Elements of this sensibility have appeared in her earlier work, too, including her Busa dolls, Jardin throw, and appliqué wall art.

Speaking about the launch, Misra says, “Home is not new to us as a brand. Our approach to spatial design and the expression of textiles, or what we call the brand language of Anavila, naturally lends itself to interiors and interior textiles. We have been exploring this space for a very long time through commissioned work with private clients, our participation at Maison&Objet, and collaborations with beautiful boutique stores across the globe."

She further explains, “What is new for us is introducing home to the Indian retail space. Home, in itself, is a very natural extension of what we do in textiles and fashion. The India launch had been in the making for a long time, as there was a specific story I wanted to tell through the first collection and campaign. It took time to bring that story together, and this is how it has come to life.”

Anavila Home includes soft furnishings for the bed, table, and lounge, along with wall art, kitchen textiles, and smaller accessories. Each category reflects the collection's focus on everyday living, with handcrafted details and natural fabrics taking centre stage.

At its heart, the collection explores the many ways people experience home. It can be a place of comfort and familiarity, but also one that leaves room for imagination and self-expression. For Misra, returning to the places that shaped her childhood is part of a larger creative journey, one that connects the landscapes of her past with the homes people make for themselves today.
