From her first Grammy nomination to headlining festival slots, it’s been a banner year for Tate McRae. Now she’s just secured another milestone with her first-ever campaign for Calvin Klein.

“I feel so honored to be a part of such a timeless and iconic brand,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar in a new exclusive interview. “I reference so many images from ’90s supermodels [in my personal style], and I feel like Calvin Klein really encapsulates that as a brand.”

For the house’s Fall 2026 “Feel the Fit” denim campaign, McRae channels models of that era, sporting teeny white tees and body-hugging jeans. She says she looked to past CK campaigns for inspiration, like Kate Moss’s iconic 1993 Obsession shoot by Mario Sorrenti.

Here, she models the brand’s variety of denim silhouettes, like the ’90s Straight Jean and the Low-Rise Baggy. To her, it felt like the perfect fit. “Denim is such a massive part of my wardrobe,” McRae notes.

One piece might have even managed to completely shift the pop star’s denim preferences. “Usually I’m a low-rise jean girl... But ever since that shoot, I’ve been wearing a high-rise skinny jean,” she confesses.

For the “Revolving Door” singer, what she puts on her body is not only personal, but it also has to be practical, allowing her enough movement when executing her oft-elaborate dance moves.

“I’m usually ultra-specific in what I can wear as a dancer,” McRae says. “I need to feel free, I need to feel comfortable. And these jeans were super easy for me to wear, dancing-wise.”

Directed by Carlijn Jacobs, the campaign sees McRae twisting, stretching, and contorting her body, getting even more active in the coinciding video, where she dances to “Groove Is in the Heart” by Deee-Lite—a song choice that cements the overall ’90s effect.

McRae teamed up with choreographer Sergio Reis for the visual, and she shares that she only had about 20 minutes to learn the movements ahead of time.

“That’s my favorite type of energy—spontaneity and high-pressure situations where you have to be put on the spot and figure out what looks best in the space, and make the campaign come alive,” she notes.

McRae joins the Calvin Klein family not long after headlining the 2026 Lollapalooza and Osheaga festivals, which resulted in some of her buzziest performances yet. Of course, fans are clamoring to find out when she’ll begin rolling out her fourth studio album. (Her last LP, the chart-topping So Close to What, was released in February 2025.)

“I always get comments like ‘[She’s] everywhere but the damn studio,’ and I'm like, ‘Girls, I’m in the studio,’” McRae says with a laugh.

In fact, as we wrap up our call, McRae tells me that she’s about to head to the studio right then—dressed in her Calvin Klein jeans and a white tank top, naturally.
