Inside Alia Bhatt’s Cannes 2026 wardrobe
Rare diamonds, sheer vintage romance, and sculpted couture defined her style

Alia Bhatt returned to the Cannes Film Festival this year, and let’s just say, her wardrobe came ready to steal every frame. Moving between couture drama, soft femininity and sharply styled minimalism, her appearances carried a sense of deep intention. Each look explored a completely different mood, yet still felt connected by a refined, modern glamour that has now become closely associated with her red-carpet presence.
The Riviera painted in couture
Opening this year’s fashion run in a far softer direction, Bhatt stepped out in a look that felt almost like wearing the Riviera itself. A custom creation by designer Yash Patil, the voluminous gown drew from the romance of 1950s couture, with its sculpted corseted bodice and sweeping, layered skirt. The real artistry, however, lay in its surface, handpainted by artist Basuri Chakshi with dreamy impressions of the French coastline, lavender-toned landscapes and soft Mediterranean skies. Delicate organza and tulle added movement and lightness, allowing the dress to feel cinematic. Styled with restrained yellow diamond studs from Chopard and classic Manolo Blahnik heels, the look captured the elegance of Cannes mornings through a distinctly artistic lens.
Tamara Ralph, rare coral jewels and old world glamour
Drenched in blush couture by Tamara Ralph, Bhatt delivered full-scale fashion drama for her red carpet look at the opening ceremony. A blush-toned, body-sculpting silhouette that felt equal parts old Hollywood siren and modern couture fantasy. The plunging neckline, liquid fit and dramatic chiffon trails floating from the arms transformed every photograph into pure cinema. She was layered in extraordinary pink coral and diamonds, led by a jaw-dropping necklace featuring 168.27 carats of rare pink coral centred around a 5.53-carat Golconda diamond by Amrapali Jewels. Finished with square-cut Chopard earrings and an Asscher-cut diamond ring, the entire look radiated high-feminine energy.
Modern maharani on the Riviera
This look brought Indian couture romanticism to the French Riviera in a custom Tarun Tahiliani, serving one of her strongest fashion moments yet. The ivory corseted sari was built on an architectural base, layered with sheer textures, pearl-toned detailing, and soft chanderi-infused draping that softened the structure into something fluid and almost weightless. The real scene-stealer was the nath. Rarely seen on international red carpets anymore, it instantly shifted the entire mood of the look, bringing in an unapologetic old-world regality and delivering full modern Maharani energy on the French Riviera. The jewellery was layered in all the right drama: haath-phool, earring, and delicate payal, all working together to elevate the look. Then came the prettiest lace parasol, which tied the entire look together, almost blending into the outfit’s visual language. Carried through to the Indian Pavilion, it moved with Bhatt like an extension of the ensemble itself, almost as if it belonged with the sari, adding charm, ease, and a soft vintage Riviera frame to the overall appearance.
Fairytale in custom Danielle Frankel
For her second red carpet appearance, Bhatt stepped into a fairytale-coded fantasy for the screening of La Vie D’une Femme, wearing a custom Danielle Frankel in an icy, luminous blue. The honeycomb lace and crinkled organza construction created a sculpted corset base that defined the structure before melting into layers of soft tulle and pleated volume that created a sweeping, princess-like silhouette. This dreamy gown was paired with jewellery from Malabar Gold & Diamonds, adding a subtle glow against the icy palette: a teardrop diamond necklace and a sheer choker, which demanded focus on the texture.
