Less is always more.

If we talk about makeup trends, the dewy look has stood the test of time. While it’s ironic that everyone is aiming at applying makeup in a way that looks like they haven’t touched their beauty kits all day, it’s also one of our absolute favourite looks. It’s not about the number of products you use but about how you use and mindfully layer them to give you that healthy-looking glowy flush.

We broke down the steps you need to follow to reach this beautifully radiant yet minimalistic makeup look. Take notes!

Prep your skin correctly

The most important step to achieving the minimalist and dewy makeup look is prepping your skin. The more hydrated your skin, the better. Start with your usual skincare routine but remember exfoliation is the key. It will remove all the dead skin and clean your pores making your application smoother. Follow the exfoliation with a moisturizer or a hydrating serum before applying your primer.

Use cream products

Once your skin is prepped and ready, pick out the cream-based products from your vanity. Powders will not give you the finesse you’re looking for. Start with a creamy medium-coverage foundation, concealer, and a little cream blush to give your skin that flushed look. Finish the look with some lip gloss. Be minimal and mindful with your application. Remember, the aim is to have healthy, glossy-looking skin.

Bush the brows

While this look requires none or minimal eye makeup, don’t forget about your brows. Use some brow gel or clear mascara to enhance and bush out your brow hair. This will hold them in place and give them a glossy laminated look.

Highlighter

Highlighting the high points of your face is arguably the most crucial step to achieving this minimalistic yet dewy look. Use a liquid or cream-based highlighter across your cheekbones, on the bridge of your nose, and on the cupid’s bow. You can also apply some on your eyelids for that extra glossy feel. You can also top off your look with some good old vaseline to add that extra natural-looking sheen.

Set the look

Set your setting powder aside and pick up your dewy setting mist and spritz all over your face. Do not dab it, allow it to dry on its own. This will not only ensure that your makeup stays in place all day long but also give you an extra bit of glow. Use this mist for touch-ups as well throughout the day to keep your skin looking fresh.
