From Soil To Serum : Ras Luxury’s botanical elixirs are rewriting the rules of skincare
Ras Luxury aims to create products that elevate everyday skincare into a meaningful ritual.

Since 2017, skincare brand Ras Luxury has built a radical kind of transparency. From growing its own botanicals on Raipur’s rolling farms to formulating all products under one roof, it has lived up to its ‘farm-to-face’ philosophy, with nothing outsourced and nothing left to guesswork. What began as a modest operation has now caught the eye of organic skincare enthusiasts. Shubhika Jain, the founder and CEO of RAS Luxury, speaks to Harper’s Bazaar India on rewriting the rules of luxury skincare.
Harper’s Bazaar: RAS sits at the intersection of nature, science, and luxury. How do you ensure that luxury extends beyond aesthetics into a truly sensorial and results-driven experience?
Shubhika Jain: At Ras, luxury isn't just something you see; it's something you feel and experience. Every touchpoint—from the texture of a formulation to its natural aroma, elegant packaging, and how it transforms your skin—is intentionally designed. But true luxury must also deliver results. That's why our formulations bring together potent botanicals, active ingredients, and rigorous scientific research, developed through our DSIR-approved labs and crafted in small batches in-house to ensure that the experience is both indulgent and effective. We believe today's luxury consumer is highly informed. Beautiful packaging may create the first impression, but visible skin transformation is what builds loyalty. Our goal is to create products that elevate everyday skincare into a meaningful ritual.
HB: "Farm-to-face" sourcing is integral to your philosophy. How do you preserve authenticity while scaling the brand globally?
SJ: Farm-to-Face has never been a marketing phrase for us. It is actually the foundation on which Ras is built. We come from a farming family, so our connection with ingredients has always been very personal. Because we have a vertically integrated model, we’re able to stay closely involved at every stage, from growing and sourcing ingredients to working with farmers and scientists, and finally manufacturing the products ourselves. This gives us real visibility and traceability, and helps us maintain the quality and integrity of what goes into every formulation, rather than simply building a story around the ingredient. As we expand globally, our commitment remains unchanged. Scaling doesn't mean compromising authenticity; it means building stronger partnerships with farmers, investing in sustainable cultivation, and maintaining good quality standards. We believe consumers today value honesty more than perfection, and authenticity will always be our strongest differentiator.
HB: RAS products are deeply rooted in botanical actives and aromatherapy yet positioned within a high-performance skincare category. How do you balance the emotional, ritualistic aspect of skincare with clinical efficacy in your formulations?
SJ: We don't see these as opposing ideas; rather, we believe that they complement each other beautifully. Skincare is both science and self-care. While clinically backed actives provide visible improvements in skin health, botanical ingredients and natural aromatics create a calming, restorative ritual that encourages consistency. Every formula starts with a skin concern we want to solve, and then we layer in botanical extracts and sensory elements that enhance the experience without compromising efficacy.
HB: Your retail spaces are designed as multi-sensory luxury environments, engaging sight, scent, and touch. How important is physical experience in shaping a beauty brand today, especially when most discovery begins digitally?
SJ: Digital platforms are where many consumers discover a brand, but physical spaces allow them to experience the philosophy behind it. Beauty is an inherently sensory category; you need to feel the textures, discover the fragrances, and appreciate the details that make each product unique. Our retail spaces are designed to invite people to take a moment for themselves. They translate our philosophy into a tangible experience, allowing customers to engage with the brand beyond a screen. That's why we've introduced skin analysers in our stores, allowing customers to better understand their skin, identify their specific concerns, and receive personalised recommendations. This helps them choose products that are best suited to their skin type and effectively address their individual skincare needs. In many ways, digital creates curiosity, but physical experiences build emotional connection and long-term loyalty.
HB: As "clean beauty" becomes more mainstream, how do you continue to define exclusivity and maintain a distinct identity within an increasingly crowded space?
SJ: Clean beauty has become an industry standard, which is a positive shift. But for us, clean beauty is only the starting point, not the destination. Our differentiation comes from the depth of our farm-to-face philosophy, our carefully sourced ingredients, top-notch formulations, and the luxury experience we create around skincare. We focus on the process and the integrity rather than trends. We feel that exclusivity today isn't about being inaccessible; it's about offering something genuinely thoughtful, effective, and difficult to replicate.
HB: As a digitally native, direct-to-consumer brand, Ras has built a strong relationship with its audience. How do you maintain intimacy and trust with consumers while expanding into larger omnichannel and global markets?
SJ: Growth should never come at the cost of connection. Even as we expand, we continue to listen closely to our community through direct conversations, customer feedback, and educational content. Our consumers have shaped many of our innovations, and we want them to continue feeling like partners in our journey. Whether someone discovers Ras online or in one of our retail stores, they should experience the same authenticity, transparency, and personalised approach. Trust is built through consistency, and that's something we are committed to preserving at every scale.
HB: Luxury today is increasingly being redefined by mindfulness, sustainability, and purpose. How do you envision Ras contributing to this shift, not just through products, but through its larger ecosystem, from sourcing to community impact?
SJ: We believe the future of luxury is conscious luxury, where quality, responsibility, and purpose can coexist. We aim to create value not just for the brand, but for farmers, women, local communities, and animals who are part of this ecosystem. Sustainability isn't a separate initiative for us; rather, it's embedded in every decision we make, from responsible ingredient sourcing and mindful manufacturing to supporting farming communities and adopting practices that are kinder to the environment. Beyond creating products, we want to build an ecosystem that positively impacts everyone involved, from the farmers who grow our ingredients to the consumers who use our formulations. If we can encourage people to embrace slower, more intentional beauty rituals while creating long-term value for our communities and the environment, we'll have achieved something far more meaningful than simply building a skincare brand.
