Can a lip tint deliver without leaving lips dry? We put Laneige’s JuicePop Box to the test
Water meets oil in Laneige’s latest take on the lip stain, with comfort built into the colour.

As someone who is always hunting for a good lip tint, I was particularly excited for the Laneige JuicePop Box Lip Tint to come to India after its launch in the US. I’d never be without a lip stain; it gives my skin just the right amount of definition without the weight or commitment of a full lipstick. My lips, however, are dry and prone to flaking, which means colour can quickly look uneven or settle into lines. Many tints also leave them feeling tight by midday, so I was curious to see whether this one could offer the ease of a stain without the usual trade-off.
THE FIRST SWIPE
The first thing I noticed was the texture. It goes on as a lightweight, almost watery gel with the doe-foot applicator, gliding easily across the lips before shifting into a softer, oil-like finish. It feels cushiony rather than sticky, leaving behind a juicy sheen and a sheer, buildable veil of colour. The finish is fresh without being overly glossy, and the formula remains light enough that you don't feel as though you're wearing a layer of product.
The colour also wears differently from a traditional long-wear stain. Rather than setting down completely and leaving the lips looking flat, it retains some softness as it fades. After eating and drinking, the intensity naturally diminishes, but the colour does not disappear all at once. On my lips, it has also faded more evenly than some tints that can leave a concentrated outline behind.
This is where the formulation becomes interesting. Laneige has built the tint around its Water-Oil Remix Technology, which combines the fluidity of a water-based texture with the emollient feel of oils. The formula also contains ceramides and peptides, alongside the brand's Aqua Tune Complex. The idea is to make the product function as more than a conventional colour deposit, with ingredients intended to help maintain lip comfort while the tint wears.
In practice, that difference is most noticeable in the way the formula sits on the lips. It doesn't depend on a glossy finish alone to create the impression of moisture; there is a softness to the formula even as the initial sheen settles. My lips have remained comfortable through several hours of wear, and the colour hasn't accentuated the dry patches that usually become more obvious with a tint.
FINAL TAKE
It is worth noting that I've only been using it for a few days, so it is still too early to speak about its long-term performance across different shades and seasons, or make claims about any lasting changes to lip condition. What I can say is that, so far, it has been easy to wear and forgiving on lips that don't always get along with colour products. It gives enough definition to make a difference without requiring the precision or upkeep of a lipstick.
For me, that is ultimately where the JuicePop Box Lip Tint makes its case. It occupies the space between a conventional stain and a lip treatment, with enough colour to be noticeable and enough slip to remain comfortable. If dry lips are usually the reason you avoid tints, this is one I would be inclined to keep reaching for.
