This new yoga studio in Mumbai is a sanctuary of serenity
Amidst the constant thrum of energy in Mumbai, Anshuka Parwani invites you to slow down.

In today’s overstimulated world, stepping into a wellness space should ideally feel like a deep exhale of relief. However, it’s not just about incense and mood lighting anymore. The design and interiors of the space, from the curve of a bench to the colour palette of the walls, are now a holistic part of the wellness journey. Thoughtfully designed studios prove that the spaces we move, breathe, and heal in can profoundly influence how we feel.
Celebrity wellness expert and yoga guru Anshuka Parwani had a clear vision for her dream fitness studio: a place where breath, body, and design flow in harmony. With the opening of the new Anshuka Yoga Studio in Bandra, Mumbai, she’s achieved exactly that, and more. Spread across 600 feet, the newest Zen address in the city feels like an intimate, sensory-rich wellness space. True to her concept, it feels less like a wellness studio and more like a sculpted ode to the five elements, especially where water-inspired design meets her aesthetic of soulful minimalism.
A design that breathes with you
Conceptualised in collaboration with Design Circle, the space is equal parts aesthetic marvel and a sensory experience. As a Cancerian sign and a former swimmer, Parwani is drawn towards the element of water. She says, “I wanted the space to be calming, energising and extremely fluid. The space invites a lot of movement, reflection and surrendering.” That connection translated into a design that is both grounding and transformative. For instance, one of the first things that you notice about the studio is the inverted ripple design, embodying the idea of a single drop being able to cause massive waves of change.
Sculpted for stillness
A sense of tranquillity permeates every sense. The water element is also woven into the space through a muted palette of beige, sand, and clay, natural textures, soft lights, and a soundscape of gentle water droplets and gongs replacing the city’s bustling noise. A signature scent infuses the space with a welcoming fragrance, and rich details like comforting bolsters, ladders and furnishings have been added as thoughtful choices. It’s not just about yoga—it’s about creating an ecosystem of stillness, a place that allows for slow healing in a fast-paced world. As Parwani says, “It’s where people can reconnect, not just with the practice but also with themselves.”
Designed for sensory wellness
Parwani says, “I do believe that wellness spaces are evolving, and the future lies in emotional resonance.” She further adds how she considers that wellness begins when all five senses are engaged. Towards this concept, her studio focuses on the external environment, aligning with internal intentions. For the sense of sight, the studio’s serene interiors, sculptural shapes, earthy tones and ripple-inspired motifs offer beauty in simplicity. For the sense of sound, the guided sounds of the gongs and water droplets accompany breathwork. The sense of smell is awakened by a signature scent, while the clay walls add rounded furnishings, opening up the sense of touch. A discreet pantry offers soothing herbal teas to awaken the sense of taste.
What’s especially striking is how the studio manages to blend form and function in a soulful blend. In today’s world, wellness can often feel performative and commercialised, but the Anshuka Yoga Studio is refreshingly rooted in intention.
